Sorry for the stupid question, but why did the tstorms contain so much lightning this morning around here and out east? By far the most lightning I have seen in a storm in Ct. Thanks.

Well there was obviously a lot of rising air in the mixed phase (this is the layer where you have a mix of frozen and unfrozen precip) layer of the CB (this is where you get the massive static electricity build up). It was pretty unstable aloft.

I think they break it with ease..

Can anyone look at viz over the last 90 minutes and tell me if that clearing line in CT is stuck..or does it appear to be flying east?

There is a weenie notch of clearing move east rather quickly, but to the north and south...not so much. That's probably subsidence that is appearing immediately behind the MCV.

sad news, i hope everyone is ok up at LOI

The victims were workers at the course, who took shelter in a shed on the course between the 4th and 13th holes, according to a spokesperson for Lake of Isles.  None of the victims was directly struck by the lightning, the spokesperson said.

All 15 were taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

I was at dispatch when the 911 calls came in. I saw the bolts hit the Water Tower up there. Looks like no one was killed thankfully but a couple were transported ALS trauma. The lightning blew up the dispatch high band radios, helped them out for a while, crazy 15 mins. Insane rain rates on RT 164 on my way in. Saw the radar on TV, I was in that core, had small pea size hail and nighttime conditions. Not boring. Oh yea still no power at home, car versus pole 2 am this morning.
