MGorse
How come im not in consideration?! Now if that was mounted to your house, I would be more impressed.
Thunder Road
The satellite dish counts as an antenna, so make that 6 antennas on Lee's roof. Reminds me of someone who has 50 bikes in his basement, and a lot more bike parts. I'd think a bigger fail is taking a week off work to drive to the Midwest for storm chasing, and it being sunny all week with no storms. Has this actually happened? lol
famartin
Eh, the tree wasn't FOR the anemometer.. it was something I took advantage of. My mom wanted the tree down (completely) so she'd get more sun in the backyard, but I hate killing stuff so we compromised.
famartin
Tough call! But Ray did fly cross-country for a 10-inch snowstorm. That makes him the leader in the clubhouse as far as I'm concerned. I did come home for 3" snowstorm last fall, if you recall

famartin
Ray better check with the FAA, they might require a beacon at the top of his anemometer Only if it was at an airport... 10 meters is standard height (though not when its surrounded by trees!) Animal
any member that get people talking about a busted snow storm as a result of flying = winner what is going on with all that old junk on "lee's" home.
Animal
serious question about the long phone wood pole. Must costg $2000-$3000? I have tree's (tall) on my property. building a home now on the ridge line in Sussex County, NJ ( Highland Lakes) I figure putting the wind gadget on the the chimney....with knowing that I can't get a true reading. This comes from there web site. Watching Ray buys serious lumber...not sure that the best option is exactly. Already over budget:(

Animal
The pole was provided free by the utility company Its probably been there for 60 years. It got me thinking....those poles cost big bucks. I will need a 70 ft clearance above the tree line. I was thinking to myself about getting at 40 ft extension on the chimney...still will not get the tree line. Options = deal with it. Yeah, in an area with large trees its pretty much impossible to get a good wind exposure. Just do the best you can. I was satisfied to get it up to the standard 10 meters even though it doesn't read anything like.
