Eh, the tree wasn't FOR the anemometer.. it was something I took advantage of. My mom wanted the tree down (completely) so she'd get more sun in the backyard, but I hate killing stuff so we compromised.

Tough call! But Ray did fly cross-country for a 10-inch snowstorm. That makes him the leader in the clubhouse as far as I'm concerned.

I have tree's (tall) on my property. building a home now on the ridge line in Sussex County, NJ ( Highland Lakes)

I figure putting the wind gadget on the the chimney....with knowing that I can't get a true reading. This comes from there web site.

Watching Ray buys serious lumber...not sure that the best option is exactly.

It got me thinking....those poles cost big bucks.

Yeah, in an area with large trees its pretty much impossible to get a good wind exposure. Just do the best you can. I was satisfied to get it up to the standard 10 meters even though it doesn't read anything like.
