MGorse
98/70 Now that is ugly, as it equates to a heat index of 105.

SmokeEater
I know one thing, if we don't get at least garden variety storms tomorrow, I'm gonna Lee type rage all over mother nature. Can't wait for next week.
stormspotterlive
The set up for storms tomorrow is rather interesting for heavy rain fall and a good lightning show pending on timing. Anyhow moisture values are going to increase ahead of the front and SB cape could get near 4000 with some modest shear to help support organized line segments. The best chance for training storms has suggested by the spc 4KM wrf would be along the pre frontal boundary. The storm prediction center does have us in a slight risk which I agree with though I do not think this will be a major out break some storms will be severe with strong winds as there will be strong updrafts and down drafts. 12z SPC 4KM http://www.emc.ncep....animate_1h.html
stormspotterlive
Heads up the heat as caused a road buckle on 422 eastbound just east of egypt road very congested. Also there is now a second one on 422 westbound in Limerick at west Lewis road.

BucksCO_PA
I thought the excessive heat warning criteria was a heat index of 105(+), is there something unique with reagard to the warnings for Philly metro? Baltimore & DC had a heat advisory today & don't even have anything issued for tomorrow while Philly metro has another warning for temps in the low 90's??? 2 days of mid 90's w/DP's in the mid to upper 60's are certainly nothing uncommon during a Philly summer It be interesting to see how many times PHL has actually reached a heat index of 105 or above since 2010..... Boch23
Went to the phillies game tonight. Left early. Was tolerable when there was a breeze. But sitting in the middle of a row with no empty seats around you gets pretty unbearable quickly.
magpiemaniac
Hey, everyone. Non-weather advice sought concerning our family's job-related relocation to the Philadelphia area. Should I start a thread in the "off topic" forum? Looking for opinions about neighborhoods, schools, etc. I post occasionally in the southeast regional discussions and thought that AmericanWx would be a good place to ask a non-weather relocation question considering all the friendly and knowledgable folks who frequent the board. Thanks.

Parsley
I guess I should feel lucky for the 0.51" the Davis has measured back home so far. I think so...but like I said earlier the models were pretty good at highlighting I-95 and east getting the better storms today. In the end I'm not shocked that the far NW Phllly burbs missed out. stormspotterlive
Looks like on placement models get an A precipitation amounts though models get a F despite it being hard to pick up on the high amounts some had but still this event over performed for south jersey. Thunder Road
95.7 for the high today. Kind-of overperformed I think. I'll check the rainfall when I go back to my room where the Davis monitor is.

The combo of the temps. 92-95 today along with dewpoints in the 70s made it the most brutal IMO. 0.02" total rain here.

I've been suspicious for a while that I'm reading rainfall too low, because it was quite heavy here for a few minutes around 6:15.
