Quick post from northern NH (Bretton Woods) - 58 lovely degrees right now, low is supposed to be 48.

Summiting Mt. Wash tomorrow - mid 40's in the morning mid-50's afternoon, light winds, full sun - can't beat it. I'm sure the snow is long gone in Tuck Ravine when I head down.

Going over to Mt. Adams Thursday - supposed to be permanent ice in some of the caves in one of it's ravines - we'll see.

Cool.

Post pic's!

The last time I was at Mt.Washington Summit was 1978, we did the drive up in my parents wagon and my Dad got the "This car climbed Mt.Washington" bumper sticker.

Just went back and checked, parents have had 5.28" of rain in the last 31 days. Keep it coming.

Yup, after a dry period in June it has been much wetter in the last month. Grass is completely green and growing like crazy. After not mowing for nearly 4 weeks, I've had to mow twice in the last 7 days.

I was up at Mount Washington when I was a kid probably going back 15 years anyhow was a beautiful day took one of the vans up. Probably would of been better off with the cog train though we had to wait 2 or 3 hours for a van.

If I am not mistaken in early June they had snow. Simply amazing the way there weather behaves. also another interesting thing to note about Mount Washington a lot of the Portland Maine television stations use to have there transmitter up there. Still the whom radio station up there still has one up there. I believe It is still the most powerful station in the country!

good hunting! perfect afternoon for that sort of activity (finally)...Radar doesn't look too impressive, I think you'll be fine...

yeah ended up with good conditions, the overcast filtered out the worst of the afternoon sun/heat....found the start of the Batona trail at Ongs hat....lost it coming back and had to hike out to the road to get back to my car. :axe: Definitely gonna head back there especially as we head into fall and less tropical conditions.

Been coming up here for 35+ years. Weather has been spectacular here yesterday and today with lows in the upper 40's and highs upper 70's yesterday

and mid 80's today. Looks like weather will be downhill the rest of my week with showers moving in tomorrow afternoon and the threat of numerous

showers and even a period of steady rain Friday into Saturday morning with highs in the low-mid 70's.

BTW, I've riidden the cog once - down only. It was Labor Day, 1976. I walked up with a T-shirt and a flannel shirt. My girlfriend (now wife) similarly dressed.

It was in the 60's at the base, and 23 with ZR/IP and about 40 mph wind. Gave her my flannel shirt and stood around like a dumbass with beet red arms from

the cold. We rode the train down. There were no seats, so we got a seat on the floor in the aisle and then due to the downward pitch, it became laying on the floor with

your foot wedged against something while the cog wheel vibrates and loosens your teeth.

This area is amazing for being in the east w/o the high elevations west of Miss. I've seen 30' of snow on July 20th (in the mid 80s) in Tucks Ravine, snow in August, snow in June, rime ice on the 4th of July, I remember (also in the 80's), Bethlehem near hear having tunnels for the sidewalks at various spots going through town.

BTW, posted in the NE thread while, but it's more about weenies than weather...

Yep, moving in on the 25th.

Have fun!

Overall, I don't miss the weather in that necks of the woods. Lots of overcast winter days with occasional flurries.......along with near-misses to the east from coastal stoms and near misses to the west from lake effect snow squalls. :)

With that said, on occasion you'll cash in.

Temperatures were never that harsh either (rarely over 90, or under 0 degrees).

Eh, I've gotten used to this even in northeastern PA the past couple winters too, so, no changes really

Brings back memories. When I worked at AccuWeather, I remember nearly every winter there several episodes of freezing fog and/or freezing drizzle.
