phlwx
Heat wave uncancel*....ughh Bootleg torch continues...it's not like 89 or 90 with no humidity is really any different. Might as well load up on some cheap 90's at this time of the year.

NaoPos
Check out this little boundary coming through Springfield/Delaware county. Just getting finished on the 18th tee, and it started getting breezy. Looked up and saw this: And then checked radar @ same time: Just thought is share!

iceman56
Seems like the comfortable mid 80's have morphed into not as comfortable upper 80's to around 90 for this week.
bluehens
This is by far the driest I have seen my yard in the 8 years at my home in northern DE for this time of year. I have a very wet backyard normally with a storm runoff creek that usually retains some water year-round but it is bone dry. Leaves are coming off the trees at an increasing pace as well and at this rate I may not have a whole lot left come November to rake up. We need a good 1-2" rain storm in the worst way. Eskimo Joe
Btw the ocean temperature at asbury park today was close to 80 degrees. I've never felt nj water ocean temps this warm ever at any time of year. It felt like myrtle beach. Any jelly fish?
easternsnowman
90 is no longer a heat wave for philly it is now the normal, not average just normal for today's climate. This july will be the 3rd in a row in which philly will have an average high of 90 and if you count every year since 2005 leaving the 09 anomaly philly is around 89 for an average. I have noticed the leaf Droppage lately and it's increasing rapidly. Up here in Ardmore, pa it's not so much but as I travel to southern Delco near where I live it's noticeable big time, my grass stopped growing and went to sleep even weed growth slowed bigtime. NaoPos
Pretty sure the leaf Droppage is normal when the heat hits. Maybe tombo or another horticulturalist can elaborate more. But I'm pretty sure they do that to conserve water.

Oh I definitely think its normal to drop some leaves when it hot and dry but I think this is coming early for that and its been above normal droppage. I don't mind with my big trees because it lightens the load come fall but I worry about my more shallow-rooted shrubs which may die completely. Lady Di
It rained in and near West Chester overnight! Nothing though in Avondale....just like Saturday afternoon...had 2 wind gusts that kicked up some dust and no storm. I'll light the rain candle perhaps that will help. Quakertown needs snow
Used my leaf blower Sunday to clean up some crunchy fall weather leafs . Yellowing of leaves on a few other trees. Same thing happened this time last year.

dryslotted
NBC news (both local and national) are honking about climate change and/or global warming (whichever sounds scarier) this week after the heat wave... I was surprised to hear Glenn reading some of the national news piece verbatim (I think) in the 11pm broadcast last night... It's being reported as if it is a foregone conclusion. I remain unconvinced...
easternsnowman
I believe the climate has warmed a few degrees over the last 30 years or so, whether it lasts is a different story.
