Voyager
I don't know what the 18z is going to do, but per the 12z GFS Allentown gets only 0.11" of precipitation through the end of the year.
NortheastPAWx
If this was our best part of winter than we are really screwed. Only 0.6" has fallen so far at KAVP, with very little to come. Yikes.
Voyager
Also, another common theme is that any snow I've seen in this area has been nocturnal. Like yesterday, and twice last week, today I wake up to light snow falling. It usually stops around 7:00AM or so, and then I just see partly to mostly sunny skies and no snow the rest of the daylight hours. And, like clockwork, as soon as the sun set and it started getting dark, it started to snow lightly again.

Big Jims Videos
and right on cue 7pm the snow has started again in Pittston. One of my fellow reporters was out in Shenandoah (shennandoe for you locals) and they had 3-4 inches in that part of Schuylkill County last night. Anyway, like I said, the pattern here seems to be nocturnal snow showers. Ours hit right about 5:30PM and gave another light dusting.

cold&cloudy
If there is a storm, I'm assuming it doesn't look good for inland areas of New Jersey and Pennsylvania? While I'll take what I can get, these light dustings are getting boring. Currently 22 F with clear skies. Only reached 24 F today.

MGorse
I guess the Mount Holly is using the "impact based" advisory system now? Yes (the reasoning is in the AFD). A real forecast challenge regarding the northern extent of a coating of snow. Given the timing though, decided to be on the cautious side.

Given the timing though, decided to be on the cautious side. I think it's wise. Like the WWA says, the first snow normally causes numerous accidents. phlwx
The dusting in NYC the other night turned the roads into a disaster, I'm told... Any snow turns the roads into a disaster for the East Coast cities...we're idiots on the roadways when it snows. Wonder though if we can do better with advisories for this stuff. If it's a duration/amount criteria event, maybe the snow advisory should come back and you use winter weather for "impact"
