Just pushed out an update to my matrix. Right now, I am showing areas from Scranton, PA to Findley, OH to Jamestown, NY to Elmira, NY as the highest threats. Tracking indices of LI's of -9, SFC CAPE 3,760 J/KG, 0-3KM CAPE 332 J/KG, and 0-1KM Shear is around 18 m/s. Seeing a greater than 50% chance for an isolated tornado. Winds seems to be the big event with forecast gusts from 75-85 mph possible. Thoughts...

Sun should play a role in how serious the storms become. It looks like the C Pa area will be clearing out starting around 10. The storms will have had a solid 4-5 hours of destabilized airmass to work with once they initialize in Ohio/West PA.

Very, very ominous-looking (with thunder and light rain presently) in Harrisburg this morning. I figured we'd be out of the game for both this morning and later this afternoon's events.

To you guys up north/northwest/west today, thoughts with you as the line moves through. Be safe!

Check out the new SPC outlook...you're right in the thick of things too later on!

The southerly shift in "MDT" region makes sense because there is still ongoing storms/clouds throughout southern and central NY state. This should limit them from the worst storms.

Everyone here will be in the best area in terms of instability.

I'm sure this will wake up people in the Philadelphia forum!

What threats should we look for today?? I'll only have my cell phone on me and radio much of the day! That clearing may have everything to do with who gets destabilized enough for strong to severe weather.

I'm no forecaster or met, but Armageddon comes to mind.

I'd look for strong gusty demons and damaging large brimstone.

State College forecast for today...

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11am. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 94. West wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
