Gotta say, for an area like ours that really needs rain, that radar isn't encouraging.

Yea, its like our area has been in a bubble all afternoon. We'll have to see if we can get some stuff to fire as the afternoon wears on but right now it seems we lost out on the main show with the line of storms that developed further southeast.

Well, at least we have tomorrow-Friday if we miss out today.

looking through the local storm reports from CTP, here's an interesting one.

0234 PM TSTM WND DMG PAXTONIA 40.32N 76.79W

07/18/2012 DAUPHIN PA PUBLIC

TREES DOWN. ESTIMATED 90 MPH WIND.

Not sure how accurate of a wind estimate that is. Also a report of golfball size hail in Dauphin County as well.

I saw that too - microburst?

What to do you think about rain chance next few days? NAM moves the axis of heaviest rain around a good bit. Now north of us. I still think most of us sees at least .75 by Saturday am.

Yeah, a FB friend near Linglestown posted a pic of what was probably a golfball sized stone, and was lamenting about her car.

Nice. About 20 drops here in Bellefonte today. I'm not sure we've even cracked 0.20" for the month.

I have to say, if we don't get rain tomorrow and Friday, that's on helluva epic model bust. Have you looked at the NAM/GFS/Euro? All showing around an inch or so (or more depending on the run). The SREF about the same. We miss that and it would be like a forecast of a foot of snow and we get flurries.

Rain gauge showing just under 2 inches here. Some great ponding in the ditches IMBY.

*scratch that I forgot to move it back after mowing the weeds yesterday. Got some runoff from the gutters. :axe::facepalm:

Despite your face palm - you may not have been too (two?) far off - my hyper accurate (LOL) rain gauge showed I got 1.25". But again, so much run off that is not really as much relief as it would seem. Bet I can dig 1" dirt and hit dust.

Looking at storm reports via Wunderground. Peter's Mtn reported hail, my buddy in Dauphin was laying a block wall and just told me he got "light drizzle" - I got 1.25" of crazily wind driven down pours and freq. c-g lightning (4 miles south in Hbg where I work was the same). All are basically in a line north south along the river. Each with differing results.

That's why I have my vegetable garden in rows with a ditch in between each, which the Chinese invented 3000 years ago while everyone else was scattering seed and feeding the birds. In my veggie garden the water can't escape. Hopefully we get more than the .06 we got today.

Tomorrow night and Friday continue to look like the exact kind of soaking rainfall we all need to curb the advancement of the low stage (D0-D1) drought levels into western/central PA in recent weeks. It looks like at least a pretty decent chance of a general inch or so for most of us. NAM continues to be very wet.. the 0z focuses the heaviest QPF on PSUHazelton and NE PA (3-5" thru 60hrs) with a widespread 1.5-2" across most of the rest of central and eastern PA. I still think the high ends probably overdone a bit, but we def have the pieces available for a pretty heavy rainfall in the form of a near stationary frontal boundary, a fairly decent shortwave, and a forecast anomalous easterly flow coming off the Atlantic.

My sisters rain gauge was over 2" (in Summerdale)
