The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...

Mercer County in central New Jersey...

this includes the city of Trenton...

Monmouth County in central New Jersey...

this includes the city of Sandy Hook...

Middlesex County in northern New Jersey...

this includes the cities of... Perth Amboy... New Brunswick...

* until 845 am EDT

* at 755 am EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a

line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter size

hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were

located along a line extending from Colonia to Trenton... or along a

line extending from Perth Amboy to Trenton... and moving east at 30

mph.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near...

Carteret... Edinburg... White Horse and Sayreville around 805 am

EDT...

Windsor... Jamesburg and Hightstown around 810 am EDT...

Twin Rivers... Old Bridge and Clearbrook park around 815 am EDT...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In addition to large hail and damaging winds... frequent cloud to

ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors

immediately! Remember... if you can hear thunder... you are close

enough to be struck by lightning.

In addition to large hail and damaging winds... heavy rain will occur

with these storms and cause low-lying and poor drainage flooding.

Please report hail or strong winds to the National Weather Service by

calling toll free... 1-877-633-6772... when you can do so safely.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 200 PM EDT Monday

afternoon for northern Delaware and New Jersey and southeast

Pennsylvania.

My Facebook feed confirms that I was not the only one in New Brunswick awoken from this storm. Wound up with a fair amount of pea-sized hail (which itself is a rarity here), some winds but nothing too nuts, extremely frequently CG lightning and so far 1.07" of rain in about 15-20 minutes.

Had to drive in this mess, incredible lightning strikes, very heavy rain and some hail for a few minutes. I haven't seen it get this dark in a long time, looked pitch black outside.

Yeah real impress with how dark it got...look like 9pm.....best storm in years...im happy
