psv88
did anyone actually get severe criteria or is this just a bunch of hyperbole? i drove through one of the heavy cells before and it was a garden variety heavy thunderstorm did you read the board? I got hail, confirmed by posters, and winds 45-50, JFK got gust to 48...so yes...
Sickman
did anyone actually get severe criteria or is this just a bunch of hyperbole? i drove through one of the heavy cells before and it was a garden variety heavy thunderstorm I'd say it was close here with the first cell. The wind maxed at about 45-50.

Eduardo
Nothing but a heavy downpour and some thunder here in Lindenhurst. Wind gusted to maybe 30mph? Still refreshing though.
Hailstorm
GR3 or GRLevel2 AE? Also, I don't think this bout of storms will require any type of GTG estimates. GR3. If I remember correctly, when I looked back in the Central US April and May 2011 historic severe weather outbreak thread last month, you were giving good information about the details of all the severe storms. Stormlover74
New Cells firing east of the dying line in PA. I really expected to see more of a squall line ahead of the cold front, not so many individual cells.

psv88
i was on my smart phone and didn't see everything. how big was the hail? remember, it needs to be an inch or larger to be severe honestly couldnt see how large it was, the lightning was so frequent (im not a wus) i could not get right up to the window. the hail came just as the winds were gusting around 50...i love severe weather but im not an idiot. 11,000 outages on the island now, plainview and syosset have a lot now. Plainview often gets pretty bad storms.

ag3
did anyone actually get severe criteria or is this just a bunch of hyperbole? i drove through one of the heavy cells before and it was a garden variety heavy thunderstorm I posted that the cell I was under in Bayside was very near severe criteria with 40+mph winds, CTG lighting and small hail. Then less then 5 minutes later, it became a warned cell for Nassau County, where PSV88 is posting from.
