Chinook
I am very happy for the cooldown. I am starting to see evidence of the front at Cheyenne and also a few light showers on radar near Cheyenne. On the models, it looked like there would be 3 pulses of rain affecting Fort Collins this week. I'm not sure if it will be very heavy. Precipitable water should be over 1" tonight. Also the models show mid-50's for Thursday.

tacoman25
DEN did quite well with this storm. Rain appears to have ended, but they got .95" today. EDIT: Looks like they won't get warmer than 54 or 55 this afternoon (the daily high of 60 actually occurred at midnight). What a change from the 90 reached yesterday. Chinook
I think my area got 0.57" to 0.71". I was just browsing one of the other sub-forums here. I think it was New England Subforum. I saw a post about "find your house's elevation." They put in a link to http://www.gpsies.com/coordinate.do I am moving, so I put in the coordinates for my new place... 5098 ft, or 1554 meters. 1554 is my favorite Fort Collins beer. mayjawintastawm
Other than fires, I think the 4 weeks centered on right now have the most boring weather of the year. But boring is OK. Couple more weeks till we can talk about meaningful snow.
tacoman25
Other than fires, I think the 4 weeks centered on right now have the most boring weather of the year. But boring is OK. Couple more weeks till we can talk about meaningful snow. Since March, it's been a boring year. This fall will need to put on quite a show to make up for the rest of the year. Models are showing some rain for next week, so at least there's that.
Chinook
Things have been sort of hazy here for days, due to wildfire smoke. Today is a bit better visibility. I suppose we will have a rain event to talk about this week. It's a weak upper low, but the GFS has over 1" for some of Colorado.
famartin
Yeah its nice to see the smoke clear out today. Yesterday morning it looked like this... (note there are hills 10 miles or closer in all photos, some are only 2 miles away).
Chinook
We had 0.24" to 0.50" in the past two days. BlizzardWx
I'm back!!! Anybody miss me? At any rate last winter killed my soul it was so terrible but I am hoping for a better year. We have had some rain the last couple days, totaling about .40 or so. Some snow fell on the higher peaks as well. Looking ahead it looks pretty quiet the next couple days but maybe some storm action in a week or so.

boulderrr
I need a rain gauge! Not sure exactly how much we got here in Boulder, but I'd wager it was over .25" in the last 24 hours. Just checked the NWS radar estimation and they have us between .25" and .5". (http://water.weather.gov/precip/) Just started coming down again as there are storms developing right over us. Hooray rain!

boulderrr
Wow... Within 15 minutes of my previous post, we had 3 lightning strikes within a mile of the office. One of them knocked the power out for about 10 minutes.
Chinook
Fort Collins had torrents of rain today. We had a small squall line go through, with BB-size hail, and maybe 0.50" of rain in 15 minutes, and I saw several vivid lightning bolts. Water was 7" deep at the side of the street in Old Town. It was the most exciting weather moments of this year since the February 3rd blizzard.

DEN got pounded yesterday: a record 1.41" for the day (giving them a two day total just under 2"), including .80" in 23 minutes at one point. Loved the rain the past couple days. I'd say the drought is on its way out.

Chinook
Fort Collins had light rain and drizzle last night. This make it the 4th straight day of rain. The total for four days was about 1.60" in the middle of the city at CSU weather station. I heard some thunder to the north of me yesterday. We have fog this morning. tacoman25
I wonder how much at Stapleton I don't know. Doesn't look like they are tracking precip there anymore. There probably isn't much difference in precip from May-Sep between Stapleton and DIA, since most the storms are convective by nature, hit or miss, and ones further east are often just as heavy as those closer to I-25. However, from October-April, when most of the precip comes from upslope storms, the further west you go, the more precip you get. Which is why Boulder has historically averaged about 20" more snow than Denver. And places out of the plains east and north average about 20" less than Denver. The snowfall difference between the current DEN and Stapleton would probably be around 5-10"/year, I would guess.
