I surprisingly got in on the line of storms that was moving south in the upstate yesterday evening. I had seen it earlier and thought I had no chance. After a total dud as far as rain goes yesterday with the front, figured there wasn't any way i was getting anymore. But I got some of those storms yesterday, but just *barely* (1 to 3 miles west per radar got virtually nothing it seems).

I picked up 0.40 in about 10 or 12 minutes, which is about as long as it lasted since it was moving so fast. I had rain rates as high as 5 inches per hour for a brief time at one point. Shame it didn't last longer with those 5 inch rates lol. No lightning but there was a lot of wind ahead of the line...so much so it probably deserved a warning. I had a top gust of 42 mph and I'm sure I didn't get the highest winds.

But regardless, it was a welcomed sight..and fun..since the clouds were doing all kinds of crazy motions due to a combo of strong updrafts (the storm I got was forming just before it got here and let loose as it did) , strong low level winds, and westerly winds above that. Even got to see a double rainbow afterwards.

I finally got .58 while I was out to eat. I took this shot with my iPhone as we left the restaurant.

Got a lucky .49" today from some rogue storms that managed to fire up along the spine of the apps and then propagate south. It's kind of funny that on the day when rain chances were suppose to decrease I get more rain than the previous 4 days combined when we had an actual weather system that was supposed to dump lots of rain.

 Thats nice in your sig how the temperature drops like 20 degrees and the windspeed goes all the way up from the storms that you saw at what looks like 8:00. Its awesome seeing it like that.

Just wanted to share a pretty wicked timelapse I got of the severe thunderstorm over Sandy Springs, GA earlier this evening near Atlanta. I was about 40 miles away, but the storm was so photogenic and the air was so clear with the sun setting against it that the timelapse ended up being sweet! Check it out!

I made my wife come outside last night as the sun was setting to show her the same storm, I'm about 25-30 miles to the east from where it was. You could turn and look north and see the one over Jason's house in Dahlonega too.

Nice storms right now over NE Georgia moving SW. Hope they can hold together long enough to reach my house!

Pretty big storm - woke up to a scared dog from thunder lol. Pouring rain, windy and lots of lightning. Nice way to wake up, if I could just stay in bed :) about .75 so far

Thanks! I love seeing how stuff like that plays out on the graphs too.

Yeah it's amazing how far away you can see these storms sometimes. Many times I'm driving up 400 near the Dawsonville outlets and will see a big thunderhead off in the distance only to get home and pull up the radar to find out that the storm is actually in NC or SC.

I think it's rained here almost everyday for the last week. To be honest, we've had too much rain over the last month. My tomato's died from being waterlogged for the last two weeks. I guess I should have put them in raised beds, but I've never had a problem with too much rain in the summer before.

Our peaches are not as tasty as normal due to the rain as well. It's got the sugars down some this year.

We've got 2.75 inches in June and recieved 4.8 inches for the month of May.

I'm surprised to see so much discussion about rain and nothing about the cooler than average weather! Normally you would all be sweating under the southeast ridge. It's been a long time since month-to-date departures looked like this, with continued negative departures along the coast through the next week:

That map is a thing of beauty

Last month CAE was +3.7 above normal temp wise and so far this month they are -3.0 below ^_^

Ya this weather has been great. Highs of 80 and below and lows right around 50 degrees even had a 39 degree reading a couple weeks ago. Right now 74 degrees with a strom approching. Nice breeze of about 10 mph.
