Outflow heading SSE.... radar estimated at 80mph. The severe tstorm warning boxes are for wind only on the south end. Should they not be High Wind Warnings not Tstorm warnings?

High Wind Warning= long fused warning product

Severe Thunderstorm Warning= short fused warning product

That said...it will be interesting to see if the Morristown office puts out warnings when the gust front reaches their CWA.

I'm in the Triad and getting a little concerned about these storms coming down from VA. If I wasn't on this site I wouldn't even know about it and it appears to be quite damaging, even now, just up the road in southern VA. Is this something all of us in central and eastern NC need to be concerned about? Local media has nothing other than warnings coming out of Blacksburg.

Strongest wind gust I've seen in a long time. Blowed a tree over on a car at wal-mart in Mount Airy my cousin was there and saw it... I would be willing to bet I had a gust between 60-70mph easy.... No rain just wind!!!

I saw that pop up near Mount Airy. Was there any thunder or lightning? I thought I heard thunder but when I checked the radar that was the only storm within distance of Wilkes.

Guess it's 30+mph no storm...60-70+ with storm for those of you further south-east.

I saw one flash of lighting in the distance no thunder, just a dry hot wind... lol
