SACRUS
Oh relax, you'll be seeing 90+ and humid within a week. I was going to write that by next week the discussion will be 180 degrees different. To each his own and that goes with weather but Im with those that chalk this up as a top 10 miserable day for summer time. The only thing making this week easier is tracking the turn around, which the 18z brings in by sat/sun.

jm1220
Next week looks good for at least a brief surge of heat, if not more than that. The heat perhaps could be a bit delayed in moving into the region as some models tend to bring the warmth in too quickly, although there's a potential for 90s to return again with the ridge building in. Given the recent pattern it should not be difficult to reverse the negative departures from this week, as the warm spells tend to have a larger departure from average than the cool spells have had. Westerlies to our north and a tight flow up over southern Canada, should be good for establishing some nice westerlies and a hot regime in the East if it persists. That pattern gets me much more excited for heat here than the pattern we had with a trough or cutoff over SE Canada. Looks backdoor-free.

Diego
any lawyers out there know of any job openings? What a bad week weather wise to have a falling out with my insaniac former boss. I'll keep my ears open. Hang out a shingle in the meantime. What a horrible profession. Unfortunately, the market has been kind of frozen for a while. NEXtreme
Many times the talk of 90's and heatwaves in the long range has busted big time lately. Joe B has been bringing up an interesting point: http://t.co/aI2M87jA
NYCSuburbs
How hot will/could it get? I would assume low-mid 90s if it gets close to its full potential. DGEX likes to overdo these heat potentials but the GFS/ECM have been hinting at 90s as well.
psv88
What a horrible profession. Unfortunately, the market has been kind of frozen for a while. it is a pretty miserable profession but i dont usually have trouble finding jobs, as long as you have experience something usually comes along, hopefully this time is no different...and yes, even though it will be hot next week, 50's in june sucks. donsutherland1
This morning saw the temperature dip to 51° at NYC. That was the coolest reading in June since June 1, 2009 when the temperature fell to 50°. The only time the temperature fell below 50° since 2000 was June 7, 2000 when the mercury fell to 49°. Despite the fact that the two cooler June mornings this decade occurred in 2000 and 2009, both cool summers, there have also been cases when unseasonable chill in June preceded warm summers. One such example is 1980, when the mercury fell to 47° on June 9.

earthlight
Forecast models beginning to hone in on the return of heat by the end of this weekend into early next week. The GFS/Euro and DGEX all have support for 90+ F temps. Here's the GFS showing 20 c 850 temps nearby and likely moving over the area as the ridge comes overhead. The DGEX has also been showing mid 90's temps with this ridge, and the Euro had 18 c 850 temps with the same feature.
