Doldrums of weather heading into June

lol you two are something else going back and forth.

Plus you both take the same data and interpret it completely different...but both of you are saying the same thing. If you hit 80F or higher for a couple days in the forests of the East Slope, that's probably near 90F at BDL for a couple days. Above normal temps on the East Slope and everywhere else, yes, but could one argue that 80F is not all that bad as far as summer heat goes, yes. Win, win for both spinsters.

There is no spinning the fact that 2012 is the warmest year on record ever to date.

There's your problem. If you're measuring the temperature of air afforded protection by forest or other dense vegetation we're comparing apples to oranges here.

Well it will probably be mild to warm inland no doubt, just not really that torchy imo.

Of course, it's June, it's supposed to be mild. The torch twins yammer on and on about torchy this and torchy that but there is nothing in the forseeable future that screams high heat.

According to pete the winter was cold and snowy and the spring was cold.

2012 warmest year on record for Massachusetts to date.

I had snowcover all winter and while not stone cracking cold I assure you it was cold enough not to wear shorts and sandals.

I have one day in BOX's forecast that MIGHT hit 80. Cool 60's and 70's after an extended period with highs that have been in the 50's (low 40's at night). This after Blizz said back in early May "Thankfully this will be the last of 50's for highs we see until October." I have never argued that we haven't seen above normal temps only that it hasn't been Death Valley heat as some would like to pretend. Blizz actually tried to spin 65/60 as uncomfortable heat.lol I have to say, I much prefer the daily highs in the -10's I saw had in AK this Winter. That's refreshing healthy air. When do you come home?

That's because it isn't, It has not been that warm when your receiving ENE or NE winds constantly with rain

According to NOAA its only much above normal for the year to date. Obviously the incredibly warm stretch from jan-apr is responsible.

Stop feeding the trolls.

A troll is somebody that ignores facts. By the way a very very cold start to june, it will be interesting how things shake out, if Scooter is right its going to be close for Boston while the interior is comfortably above normal.

Winter will be here soon enough Pete, what are you expecting? Any guesses?

Last May my 80+ year old neighbor told me we'd haave a mild Winter. I scoffed. The year before, in May, he told me we'd have a harsh Winter. Of course I agreed. He has been 100% on the money for the last decade or so we've talked about the upcoming Winters. A few weeks ago he said we'd get two Winters worth of snow this go round. I'm going with his forecast. Big Big Winter incoming.

There's your problem. If you're measuring the temperature of air afforded protection by forest or other dense vegetation we're comparing apples to oranges here.

It's not just in forests--we're cooler here in absolute terms. We talk this to death. Take downtown Greenfield and knock off 5-8 degrees on any day and you're probably what the Pit's recording. I'm not recording my temps in a forest or dense vegetation--on the lawn. So, we'll take that 80* and say it's warm. But that 80's translating to 85-88 in the upper valley. Head down south 40 miles and you're in the 90's.

Barring sea-breezes, the hills in NW Mass are going to be the coolest areas in SNE typically. We seldomly hit 90* during the summer--usually we miss that mark. So, we'll be warmer than normal like the rest of the area and our comparisons to you (and most of SNE) will always be apples to oranges. We can be warmer than normal and still correctly say that it's cool and comfortable. You say warmer than normal and your flip flops melt to the asphalt. We say warmer than normal and we're still cool in our homes that don't have/need air conditioners.

56.1/52 off a high of 59.4

39/39, GOAL!!! GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!. 30's at night, 50's during the day. The perfect June torch. Blizz better find a new guru.

Congrats. Looks like we'll make the first week of June falling shy of the 70's. Amazingly, 4 of the first 6 days didn't get out of the 50's (one just eeking out of the 40's).

Another day of heavy, heavy clearing today.
