Just got hit with the squall line here in Roanoke. Had some gusty winds and heavy rain and went severe just after it passed over me. Got some neat video of it from a mountain overlook as it moved across the valley. I'll post it when I get it uploaded.

absolutely pouring at my house

I was driving through Dulaney Valley Road about 20 mins ago and it was exactly like that........ sheets of rain were coming down and I could hardly see a thing even with the windshield wipers on full blast. For a moment there was a bit of hail as well but it was small.

I wonder if the ML lapse rates might be the missing key to getting more tornadoes today

I think it's tough to get anything numerous when lapse rates aloft are 5.5C/KM. That's what we talked about earlier, but it's early. The low levels certainly cooperated hence all these warnings. There still needs to be confirmation on some of those other reports so it is possible a few could have briefly touched down.

Tornado warned storm in Frederick (taken from Grove St near Lowe's). Buddy says no power in 7th street area which is north of downtown. I suspect rt 26 area got hit hard (Wegman's). One thing I learned...these storms can start spinning at any time. It was just run of the mill rain when I left the house and got lucky to catch this.
