June 1, 2012 - Severe Thunderstorms/Tornadoes Event

My only head scratcher is how the mid levels look. It's kind of a negative to get the nasty rotating updrafts, but the low levels have a lot going for it. Shear is usually a bit more important so we'll see. Much of the area is near 1500J CAPE which is probably sufficient for storms to rotate given shear profiles. 925 and 850 winds are SSE and S respectively from 25-40 kts which is good.

Its possible I was too down on the threat. Of course I have been on my phone and have not looked in depth. However I'd still take the under on expectations. The DC area is not the Plains. A college park type event would be huge for the area.. But things tend to not reach potential 99% of the time there. I did think the WF would be further north which is of course a bit of a game hanger.

Not our back yard but the cell down on the northern neck has a hail sig already. We'll see about rotation. My guess is torn warn shortly.

I'm in Arlington so I'm interested in the cell approaching the beltway. May slide by to my west but gonna be close.

as things start to get busy here...

request for anyone with high quality GR3 to post velocity scans on any interesting cells

for archive purposes / radarscope on my iphone doesn't cut it

much appreciated by all!

If some of the cells get better organized, I'll try posting some.
