Pulled the records for 1988 from PAH - in June these were some of the high temps - 22nd=100 degrees, 23rd 103 degrees, 24th=103 degrees (that was a record high), 25th=102 degrees, 26th=101 degrees. On June 11th we had a record low of 48 degrees. In July - the 8th=102 degrees (that was a record high), 9th=100 degrees, 15th=100 degrees. We had a record low of 59 degrees on the 22nd of July. In August we had the 15th=102 degrees, 16th=102 degrees, 17th=104 degrees (that was a record high), 18th=103 degrees. We had a record low of 47 on the 31st. We were also in the 40s on the 30th. I made a comment yesterday about the low humidity levels, as well. It does seem as if this is a dry heat (which is more unusual in our region). Precipitation in 1988 = January saw 3.50" (-0.17") (2012 we had 3.55") / February brought 5.15" (+1.76") (2012 we had 2.19") / March brought 4.60" (-0.36") (2012 we had 4.00") / April brought 2.13" (-2.44") (2012 we had 0.56") / May brought 3.14" (+1.51") (2012 we had 0.39") / June brought 0.41" (-4.04") (so far in 2012 0.90" has fallen) / July brought 3.08" (-0.61") August brought 1.05" (-2.17") September brought 3.49" (0.00) October brought 3.81" (+1.21") November brought 9.56" (+5.52") December brought 3.05" (-1.11") <---all for KPAH

State law regulates fireworks use, Kokomo Fire Chief Pat O’Neill said, citing a directive sent to fire chiefs by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

“The use of fireworks is NOT covered under the ‘open burning’ provisions of [the Indiana Fire Code],” DHS officials said in the directive. “In other words, issuing a burn ban does NOT prohibit or restrict fireworks use in your jurisdiction.”

Yep. I just attended a meeting with the county fire chiefs and this was announced. However, anyone who starts a fire due to shooting off fireworks may be charged with criminal recklessness.

EDIT: Just checked my gauge, 0.32". 7 day forecast = 0.00"

ORD is becoming quite the heat island of late. Highest temp in the state of Illinois at 7PM (of the legit sites, though even the non-legit ones are lower too). And them beating MDW seemingly every day is also a bit strange. Must have moved the thermometer closer to a runway.

7:00pm temps...

ORD: 85

Wheeling: 83

MDW: 82

Waukegan: 82

Springfield: 82

Belleville: 82

Carbondale: 82

Rockford: 81

Quincy: 81

Peoria: 81

Bloomington: 80

Moline: 80

Champaign: 78

Rainfall totals from yesterday in the LAF area (via CoCoRaHS observers). Southside wins.

Lafayette 2.2 S: 1.07"

Lafayette 2.2 NE: 0.44"

West Lafayette 5.1 WSW: 0.16"

Yeah, I saw that. All a matter if the storm went right over your location or not.

It was nice to see some rain, cause it looks like not going to see any in the near future..
