Chicago Storm

Agreed. I prefer a forecast of 95-98 for Monday through Wednesday for ORD. Ridge axis looks like it'll be aligned farther east than optimal, and mixing due to strong winds may be too great. Moreover, the recent overachievements in temperatures would at least be temporarily thwarted by any rainfall received this weekend.

I'm so excited about the prospect of the first appreciable rain in nearly 3 weeks that I don't care if it muddles convective potential for later on. Bring on this small batch of rain to the WSW.

glad I gave the lawn a good soaking because that's the only appreciable rain it will see or a while.

What did you get... quarter inch or so? I got like a half a dozen rain drops!

Who cares if its 88 or 91. Whats the difference

88*F isn't 90*F+ in the statistics. But for those who don't care about statistics, they also wouldn't notice any difference between an 89*F, 90*F or 91*F.

If there's anything I quite frankly don't care about, it's the minor drought we have locally. All it takes is a couple good round of t'storms to wipe that out (like last July), and climo is in our favor of having that wiped out more likely than not.

For stats purpose I guess but for outdoor activities it doesn't really matter. Still going to the pool.

That minor drought got wiped out Monday night along M-59 Northward. 0.60" here and some areas got 1" of water. I was in Southern Wayne yesterday it's clear that they need rain.

maybe a tenth? nothing of use if you depend on rain for watering.. i'd be stunned if we get much more than that tonight.

Good luck down there tonight. euro gives you .25"+ more west.

Got a fairly decent view of the thunderheads over towards Michigan while out doing errands this afternoon. View from Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Edit: Down to 78° with cooling lake winds. Quite humid though.

That's insane. I picked up a whole 0.01". Looks like I might get another 0.02 - 0.03" later. Drought buster.

Wife of daddylonglegs checking in to say... he's biking (bicycling) in this storm. Sky's a little green, rain is coming down sideways... no red boxes on the radar so I will assume he'll be okay. :)

Haha, that's crazy! Good to hear it's not a severe thunderstorm!

Heard more claps of thunder than I saw raindrops. :arrowhead:

Meanwhile, talked to my parents. 2.50" and counting up in Kankakee. Said they got pea sized hail too. Lucky ducks.

Last of the rain winding down. Finished up with 0.81" for the day. 0.47" that fell in a very short time early this afternoon, followed by 0.34" of stratiform anvil rain from the dying complex this evening.

Its dying quickly on its north end... Not sure how much I will pick up out of this.
