Wow...looks like my post set off quite a firestorm. I've been traveling around out west the past few days and have had limited Internet connectivity, so I'm just catching up now.

Regardless of the reasons, I was disappointed to discover that many SNE people wouldn't be attending the conference this year. While it has not impacted my decision to go, I was hoping to meet some of you. I met Diane a few months ago for a hike in the Berkshires, and found her to be a good friend and fellow weather weenie.

I'm not going to get myself involved in the politics going on here by stating my opinion about all of this publicly, but if others don't want to go or can't go to the conference, that is their choice. I think it'll be a good conference, especially with Paul Kocin speaking, and I'm looking forward to going.

I haven't been to Baltimore since I was 15, so I want to see it again. Supposedly there is a cool aquarium there? If so, I may go Thursday night and go there during some of the "downtime" on Friday.

Yeah, if they ever had the hang of it to begin with.

Like weathafella, a genuine New England good guy. Can I get an amen?

If you are ever up this way when we have a gtg, please come by. (all seriousness).

The last one was very dull, but they are usually fun/informative. And if Wiz is there they are hilarious.

Later folks

I was re-reading the SNE Dec 2007 rush-hour event thread on EUSWX the other day and man that's a classic. I'll post the link when I get home, but that was a weather board at it's prime...

The posts between 40/70, ORH, Blizz, and CTRain among others are great...no off-topic joking even...just fantastic analysis. I'm pretty sure Will posted 10 times an hour for like 36 hours straight. Hopefully he'll be back like old times cause his New England analysis is unreplaceable. Everyone meshed good back then with no drama and it comes out in the posts. No petty regional comments, no one fighting for snow.

Hopefully we can have some more threads like that in the future.

Amen, bro.....that was the hey day....never be like that again because there are too many posters.

I'd give anything to go back to that for a day.

I wish everyone had your attitude.

You'll have a great time.

It was bad.....47 inches here is useless.... 24" of it was nuisance 1-4 inch LES stuff also.

Your # probably looks a lot better because of the October storm, but one pre-season storm does not a good winter make.

Not to mention October isn't even Winter.

It forced you to flee to Alaska mid season.

I would have gone either way.

LOL yes somethings never change. I love it. Any winter is better than not having winter at all.

Yep, even a cold dry Winter creates lots of Winter sports fun.

Well 47 inches is pretty pathetic for you and yes the October storms did pad the final tally but I had consistent snow cover and a Winter full of skiing and other Winter related activities. I guess if I lived somewhere that it was in the 50's with brown grass all Winter I'd feel differently. Lots of days looked like this one.

Do you honestly think anyone is a bad person because of disputes on this forum?

Jesus, I know I don't.

No, I don't think that. Some of them were bad people before they ever found this forum, or any forum.

I've never thought of you that way, though, for what it's worth.

No one is perfect.....I know acts that I find humorous get on other folks' nerves; the world would be a boring place if everyone were the same.

All I ask is that if anyone has any negative feedback regarding me, that they relegate it to this forum, where I am free to respond.

I don't post in or view any other forums, but I have heard that there is some "unflattering" material being posted about me and some others on another forum(s).....that's on them.

Anything I have to say about other members will and always has been kept on this board.

Yeah the good ol' days.... back in Dec 2007. Lot of the same posters. Just reading through this though makes me really miss these types of threads where there's no bickering of any kind, just people stoked to be talking about weather and snow.

There's also no "spin" like we see today with folks trying to achieve their own person agenda... except for Blizz trying to get Ryan to say 12" will fall instead of only 10". Haha. Some funny stuff in these old threads, too, like Blizz saying he was surprised to make it to the last rounds of WOTY voting but was secretly praying not to win. The term weather weenie was just catching on around this time.

Reading through that thread it's amazing how friendly people were and the weenies asked questions rather than railed against an answer or forecast they didn't like lol

It really is.... that's why I though this was a good thread to bring that up in. I mean you read through some of the old EUSWX threads and its just awesome. Model discussions without the "i'm right and you're wrong" mentality. The weenies were so much more polite because they are just figuring out they can interact with "pro mets" haha. Even I was a lot more polite and open minded back then.

No.....it goes beyond that, but it's no one's fault......things and people change.

Those days are over, but that doesn't mean there won't be some good dialogue in the future because there most certainly will.

Then I don't get the special thing about Dec 2007, other than it overachieved. Maybe that's what made it special on your mind. Otherwise, this forum is rocking no matter what when there is a 10" storm.
