real dark to the NW I wonder if something is trying to develop

First cell of the day just popped east of the Quabbin moving SSE into New Braintree.

Very small but intensified quickly... hopefully a sign of things to come here soon. Still more than enough instability

There is a weak subtle s/w barely discernible on the models over nrn NY state later tonight. Weak height falls over SNE. However, it's not a big classic instability burst or theta-e spike moving in. In fact, the LLJ increases but it seems like the best combo oh theta-e advection and LLJ seem to be over upstate NY and into NNE. I guess I wouldn't be shocked if something forms up there. However upglide over this warm front could be the spark for initiation...the catalyst to break the dam cap. So I would watch areas from Albany and especially north later this evening. At least imo. Tough to say if it will be anything significant, but worth watching in this atmosphere. Anything that does form would move SE.
