SNE BANTER BANTER BANTER BANTER

Let's try one thing and this speaks to Ryan, Scooter and Phil concerns as well as other members. Let's not demean each others weather forecasts and obs. Let's not demean non pros and constantly refer to them as weenies. I think a little respect on all sides is in order. I think that use of the term weenie has now become a really derogatory remark. Respect goes both ways, if you want consistent intelligent discussion, respectfully point out why you disagree.

And I'm glad I've made friendships with people such as yourself. But this is a different thing. It's one thing to joke around here and there, but I think people get fed up with the same routine over and over.

It's all cyclical. It used to be tossing weenies, then it was innuendo till Bob ruined that, then it was everything was a "disaster", then it was AWT. That's starting to run its course. Things come and things go. Ill still use all those things to have fun on here, just like the mods do/did and mets do. You just have to ride the tide until the next catch phrase

Yes. This is how I feel as well. And I think the routine has gotten nasty at times...myself certainly included in that too.

What's the point in having a weather discussion if any point you disagree with is just dismissed or laughed at.

I never once felt demeaned by the term weenie. In fact I laugh at it. But finding Internet crap to boost your exaggerated thoughts about the upcoming pattern get annoying.

Get the feeling this is isolated to a couple of posters because I rarely see anyone dismiss or laugh at your insight.

That wasn't directed at you. I mean finding HPC discussions, weenie TV forecasts, blogs, etc. that don't even apply to us or cover an area that is large and not SNE centric.

I am not taking any of this personally bro, just trying to help let everyone explain and understand what we need to do to get back on track. All of the above is Kevin, just come out and say it.

The jabs and insults could be a problem, although TBH, these guys such as Joe, Pete, Kevin are only doing it in fun. The whole torch versus cool thing is just some nonsense to pass through this highly boring time of the year. I suppose a newcomer might take that stuff seriously.

The whole silly dispute about the ski and garden threads is a total waste of time IMO. I can't see the harm in a couple threads, only partially wx related.

I'd spend more time policing the non-wx banter in the primary weather threads.

It seems as though we are at an impass here...one side thinks people are overly sensitive and need to get over it...the other side thinks things have gotten bad with respect to jabs, insults, and drama. Oh well. I will say I'd rather have Phil around posting more rather than a couple weenies.

Concur but it appears that valid concerns over post integrity and content are a big issue. Although reading the convective thread, the winter 12 threads, I see none of that. It's the day to day temp BS that seems to upset some.

Im not going to single out any one particular poster. And it's got nothing to do with valuing my own opinion or whatnot.

There are tons of very smart posters on here...and many are treated kind of crappy....especially if they have an opposing viewpoint on an upcoming weather event/pattern etc.

Looking very good. Even better than last year. Lots of transfers from very good schools.

Doubles and camp start the first week of August. Can't wait for that to be over, too damn hot.

Awesome. Good luck. We used to have 6 am and 6 pm. 6 am sucked but at least it was semi cool, then I would lifeguard all day to be back and ready for 6. Man I wish I had that energy back. Going to try to keep up with your team this year. Stay healthy!

Great post, as I said earlier we need to respect each other, bottom line.

Man I sure hope I can stay healthy. Definitely want to be in Baton Rouge for the LSU game.

I think we always had them. There's more posters now than we had on Eastern. There always has been garbage posts and there always will be.It just seems like more now because we have more people posting. I sincerely believe we need little to no moderation. I'll say it again....if everyone moderated like Ekster..this place would be ideal

Ideal?? I don't remember much moderating from Mike. Maybe Ekster isn't around much for other reasons...OTHER than personal. Just a thought...

Am I? Will seems less active, Ray doesn't post as much, don't see Ekster as often.

Not that I've been around much, but I mainly lurk now. Gee, wonder why... Don't want to deal with the crap!! Period.

That's my red tag 2 cents worth.

But who really laughs at or dismisses you or other red taggers? It's one thing if I mock the Blizz for a "Biblical Torch of Historic Proportions" forecast, those forecasts are made for that. It's quite another if I seriously mock a forecast of a professional such as yourself. Maybe I missed some interplay between the regulars here but I just don't remember that happening in a significant way. Your opinions, along with Scott, Will, TT, etc. carry a great sway with the vast majority of posters here. That's why when it's crunch time, a major winter storm is bearing down, we all ask you "what do you think for MBY". When the weather gets interesting again things will tighten up in the dedicated threads and people can kick back in the banter threads to talk and get to know each other. This board will have longevity if it gets members and retains them. Our banter threads have been the catylst for gtgs, these in turn aid in forming a strong and dedicated membership. The idea of squelching this banter seems misguided at best. Once we're out of these doldrums and there's a snap in the air we'll find our equilibrium. I blame all of this on Summer.
