They still believe in blood letting and Greek Gods where Pete lives.

No, but I have a few 20 somethings that work for me that believe there is a race of Merpeople living in the oceans. These guys are all college educated. I was startled today when they told me this and I realized they weren't kidding. I asked one of them why he believed in Merpeople. He told me he had seen them with his own eyes. I asked him where thinking he'd say on a fishing trip or something. He told me "Last night on the Discovery channel". I'm losing hope for the future.

the thing is...i don't even really know when it started or who did it...but it sucks. and i don't think it's just a summer thing. i feel like it's been going on for a while now. it's always existed to some extent, but never the way it is now.

It does suck. If you go back and look at threads on Eastern instead of a bunch of absurd weenie posts from top members, gotcha quotes, and just baseless science-related garbage there was a lot more question asking, model/pattern observations, and much less of this unfun stuff.

It started this winter imo. There were no imminent threats and people claimed the d10 euro showed snow while others were celebrating warmth.

Its the chest beating to the weather you want... its funny because its not even people gloating over if they got the forecast right or whatnot, its gloating because they got the weather they wanted.

And its hard to just have a theoretical discussion because it always goes back to who is getting what they want and what they called for.

In the winter god forbid you post something that might seem as if you aren't 100% sure and gung-ho on blizzard like conditions, lol.

I just remember posting about a storm really looking crappy, and it turned into "lock in 3-6" for the hills.." or something like that. It's fine for a little while, but it gets old. Of course the person who locked in 3-6" didn't even get 3-6cm.

to me though, what you are talking about is a different issue. i don't mind people enjoying a certain type of weather...we all enjoy weather. that's pretty clear. hot/cold/snow/rain whatever. now obviously i admit i don't enjoy reading LL's posts - but that's not because he likes warm weather...at all. i don't care about that. i don't like reading because he just says it over and over and over again. that's not really what i'm getting at.

what i don't like probably stems back to when Kevin first introduced the whole "AWT" thing...which was years ago and at the time pretty harmless. but that general mindset of "i was right" "you were wrong" or taking conversation and discussion out of context to suggest someone is taking a position rather than having a discussion...all that garbage...it just blows.

if you suggest something might happen...just for the sake of conversation and to get feedback...it's like it's written in stone that that is your forecast or your take on a situation.

it's like we can't actually talk through an event anymore without one word troll replies, or someone tossing up a chart that refutes your point of view or quoting an AFD or another forecaster who doesn't share the same opinion.

it's just not fun. the joking used to be all in good fun, now it's got a very negative undertone to it.

I don't like pastrami. That's city slicker food anyway.

It's a trade off. I'm not a city slicker, and growing up on the north shore of Nassau County, though not really being the country, enabled me to appreciate the benefits of living in a rural environment, and during a period when we received a lot of northeasters, I learned to appreciate the benefits of also living in a more snowy and cold environment.

But reality is you can't always get what you want (R. Stones), in my case, due to personal and economic factors. To put it mildly (no pun intended), my wife wouldn't be very happy living year round in Burlington, Vt. But I've also discovered that there are many benefits to living in NYC that you can't help but appreciate. And fortunately, I have a car and the ability to escape to more rural and snowier environs, sometimes.

I don't think the core group here tries to really tear each other down. Well, you're just downright awful to Joe but everybody else seems cool. Not to single you out or anything.

But what gets old is the constant reminders of +4 here and +5 there. Day 10 op progs of hot wx that are probably overzealous and OKX P & Cs that are 5 degrees too warm. The whole thing gets old. We all get it. It's warm and I have no problem if you enjoy that. That's great, but every day it's the same. Even you are sometimes the polar opposite with cool talk, yet record warm temps. I understand it's all relative, but it's the same talk day in and day out.

When people are pi$$ed, it's not just fun anymore. That's what I tell my 3 kids (not in those exact words, but the same thing). And when you go to someone's house (or BB) you play by their rules, say please and thanks. I hope Joe Bartlo is not coming to amex.

I asked what the warm waters in PEI meant, not sure if it got answered. :0

Well, to be fair the weather has been ultra boring. Not really that much to talk about. I agree though, Blizz and LL are awful. Their posts make me want to puke too.

Crabby old man impression?

You won't let up and you don't care. It's disappointing that you lack the care for this place that so many put in before you were here. You have to go tit for tat with everything. You are a significant part of the problem we've had on this bb. You're a fine fellow and a friend but you disappoint me.

OT is garbage. Absolute garbage.

Don't bother moving an SNE thread there. It just turns into a debacle. It would be better for everyone to just delete it. If you can't see that then you simply do not understand board dynamics.

There is an interest to keep things professional. I understand. A change needs to be made. Individual off topic for each regional subforum. Make it private so only registered users can see, read, and post there. It will prevent strife over where threads are located and the concerns about professionalism. SNE can do their thing and other subforums can do theirs. An effective end to the drama and concern about off topic/banter.

Other than that people need to grow up, stop holding grudges, stop answering trolls, and generally stop being babies.
