Ian Posted May 16, 2012 Share Posted May 16, 2012 The lightning is NW of me, maybe the Dulles cell? i think that's too far.. have had a few loud rumbles lately. it must be anvil stuff or maybe some positive strikes? i see dots close on the lightning array. Ian Posted May 16, 2012 Share Posted May 16, 2012 i think they are positive strikes. just had another here and i saw a very bright flash... they are once every 5-10 min or so with a burst or two of more. i was up in tenleytown (where the radio towers are) earlier.. should have camped out. Ellinwood Posted May 16, 2012 Author Share Posted May 16, 2012 Jason and I found this guy chilling just west of King William, VA: A screen grab from shortly before that when Jason and I were punching through the (rain) core: The whole meso was rotating, and the storm had nice striations and an inflow band The wall cloud wasn't doing much rotation, but it did have a very noticeable updraft.
