aslkahuna
Well, if cow farts can be said to contribute to Climate Change then surely the much larger dino-farts had to as well-of course it was already pretty warm back then. Steve

Steve Luckily for us the dino's went bye bye before their flatulence knocked the greenhouse needle past James Hansen's tipping point and the oceans started to boil. Gore would have cringed. Or formed a U.N. study group.

OSUmetstud
Did anyone actually read the article? I did...it kinda makes sense. There was fox news article written awhile back about the same paper that explicitly questioned the asteroid theory in favor of methane excess which seemed ridiculous. Sundog
I did when it was first posted. The reason I asked is because everyone was interested in making a punchline rather than discussing the actual material. I thought it was interesting.
Wow
it is interesting. it is also wildly speculative as they did their calculations as if the dinosaurs were mammals and not reptiles, which skews their results. but is a plausible theory. dinosaurs of then were like the mammals of today regarding their world population. weatherwiz
That's actually quite interesting.
aslkahuna
The reason I asked is because everyone was interested in making a punchline rather than discussing the actual material. I thought it was interesting. I did when it first showed up on line. Not knowing much about the digestive assimilation processes of dinosaurs (which were reptilean and not mammalian as Trixie notes-and besides which who can really tell?) I merely said it the way I did to be light hearted about the claim-which apparently is verböten here. The intent being that a strict comparison between bovine flatulence and saurian would tend to have the latter be more important. Ah well, so much for humor in this life. OSUmetstud
I find some of the relatively new stuff about dinosaurs dying pretty much instantly as opposed to dying during the "nuclear winter" pretty interesting
