saltysenior
Today is probably the first nasty day of that real super-Florida humidity. I went to get the mail and I was sweating for 15 minutes after coming back in. LOL. we had it pretty good for this time of year, but you are right.......today was bad and the first day i had to wear my '' philly / staten island spaghetti'' shirt . ... icebreaker5221
Why do you crazies hog all the rain while the rest of the country suffers from drought? PWs are >3 sigma above climo. (2.16" per Key West sounding, but that didn't even capture the maximum). Couple that with 50 kts upper-level outflow north of the wave ventilating the system, and you've got prime ingredients for heavy rain. The whole bottom half of the peninsula has a great chance today and tomorrow to pad the numbers before the next bout with SAL.

icebreaker5221
I see that the high in Miami was only 85 today. Lowest high since Jun 23. That means 3 things: - fall is almost here - the peak of hurricane season is getting closer - I'll be back in Miami in 1 month

ocala
2 months from now the first cold front will be rolling through up here. Days getting shorter, nights getting longer. There has been a ton of rain around here but I seem to get just the edges of it. In the last 2 weeks I have had rain everyday but it hasn't added up to a quarter inch. CandymanColumbusGA
I managed to drive down from Columbus, GA without getting too wet yesterday. However, at the place I went wine tasting, it started pouring! It must have been because there were two meteorologists there to make it rain! bic
Took this photo today of a storm headed my way. It looked pretty gnarly from afar but turned out to be just another mediocre rain event.

icebreaker5221
Next week is my last week in CO before my return to FL, so I'm sure that increases the odds of something interesting happening in Miami.

icebreaker5221
Looks like MIA (and much of S FL) has already picked up 1"+ of rain just from this pre-storm moisture surge. Highly difluent flow at upper levels also seems to be helping out quite a bit.
Jimbo!
pretty mellow so far here in naples..literally on the dorstep of KAPF. 23 mph gusting to about 42...rain on and off.
wi_fl_wx
Had to drive from Naples to Miami via Tamiami trail this afternoon, lots of rain but very little wind. Here in Miami there are a few tree branches down but that's it.

wi_fl_wx
Well the winds are back up now. I think there was just a tornado in downtown Coral Gables. I was outside (moving my car away from the trees) and I saw about 5 transformer explosions in the distance (and could hear the electrical zapping noise). I ran back inside and noticed the hook echo on radar (and tornado warning) at that time. It could have been straight-line winds but I suspect it was a brief touchdown. If so, that's the closest I've even been to a tornado...

flweathernerd
I was working at the airport all day the 26th and the 27th. We were the one of the only airlines flying. Got absolutely hammered all day the 26th. The squalls would come every 20 minutes and it would pour and get very very windy. After 8pm on the 26th the wind really picked up and so did the rain. Absolutely torrential downpour for the better part of two hours. Had a wind gust measured at the airport of 55mph.
wi_fl_wx
The long range GFS has been showing some humidity relief around September 10-12. I doubt any cold front will reach South Florida, but maybe you guys farther north might finally see some relief.
ocala
Yeah next week they were talking about a CF possibly coming through. Kind of sad really. Beginning of the end of the rainy season. Hopefully the tropics will keep it intersting.
