These videos were about 10 minutes apart. It only snowed for maybe an hour off and on but if it had stayed snow for a longer period I would have done ok with these kind of flakes.

Nice! Good to see you got a little something out there! You did better than us for sure.

Still 32 and getting some ice in the trees. This is my 2nd accumulating snow in 2 weeks so i'm happy with that. Still holding out a little hope for the weekend storm but its gonna be a painful one to watch I believe

I've been hit hard by icestorms multiple times but I still love them. Anything is better than rain this time of year. We have a very limited time to experience such variety so it is special when it happens imo. Plus, just tracking the temperature gradients has always been fascinated to me.

And The temperature gradient continues to impress me today. Just a few minutes ago, Athens was 39 while lexington, about 15 or 16 miles east of the airport, was 54 while I was at 44. Now, athens is 41, lexington 55, and I'm 49...it jumped 5 degrees in less than 10 minutes. So this is an impressive warm front.

54 here, with temps around 40 in Gainesville. Very impressive.

Regarding "storm mode", I assume this will be the obs/banter thread? I looked over the rules of engagement and it looks like certain problem posters are going to have a rough time over the next few weeks

Just got back from Raleigh. The roads weren't bad for the most part. Most were just wet. My driveway is SLICK, though! I didn't build up enough speed going on it and started to slide backwards into the street, so I had to build up speed in order to get up it (and the driveway is only about 20 ft. long). It's like an ice rink.

Temp has shot up to 54 here also and it feels great. Sure beats a wet 33/34. But it looks odd because my lake is still frozen over. It actually froze over with our outbreak under very windy conditions which impressed me. There is ice a foot high on the downwind side.

As for storm mode, yeah posts like snowdevil are going to be removed as well as the poster(s) who are repeat offenders. We generally don't have the same amount of problems as other regions do though but we have had a lot of new members who aren't as well versed as most it seems. Nothing wrong with that of course but they need to think before they post.

Lookout - I have a quick question that may be OT but I just needed some clarification - do you have to have a certain amount of posts to be able to attach images? I mostly lurk unless it's an obs thread, so I don't have a high post count, but I wasn't sure if that was the reason I couldn't attach an image, or if it is a computer problem on my end.

Back OT - ice on the trees and bushes is starting to melt with a temp at RWI of 33. I think we're a bit higher here in town, though. It was beautiful while it lasted!

This event was modeled to be almost nothing in western SC, the southern foothills to srn. piedmont of NC, and it lived up to just that here. I had .01" of freezing drizzle, and just had more drizzle to come in so all told I think .02" fell here today.

Wow, you can see the relative max of precip in the ATL area. The map matches up well with my thoughts, there was definitely a decent glaze on the car this AM.

Even with stiff southwest winds here today we still did not manage to get out of the 30's today. Pretty decent temp gradient setting up across the midlands of South Carolina, and northeast Georgia. Goes to show you how deep this arctic airmass penetrated southward. Temperatures around Columbia are now in the low 60's while Charlotte to Greenville-Spartanburg still in the upper 30's.

We got about .3" of snow before the transition to ZR/IP (I was working, so I wasn't able to get a "proper" measurement).

A nice glaze on the pines around the yard at home now.

My father was in southern Hertford County (about an hour to my north) and said by the time that he left work at lunch, there was about 2" on the ground.

Currently 33 and spits of drizzle.

I'm in shaggy's camp. The second measurable snowfall in two weeks and almost half of the seasonal average before Christmas is alright with me.thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Tell me about it! When I heard that the warm-up was happening for some (Lookout posted a 54 earlier) I got excited.thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I'm still at 37, wet, damp, unbearable degrees!! thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

I'd kill for a 60 right now.

I think I drove through the front this afternoon. Was in stephens cty and it was 39 heading west the the temp rose rapidly to 50 in just a few minutes :scooter:

Another cool thing that's going on imby; about an hour back my temp droped to 31.8 with light freezing drizzle. Everywhere the drizzle hit it froze. About 30 minutes ago the drizzle durned into a rain. My temp jumped up to 32.0. I'm still getting freezing on elevated items but not on lower surfaces. So this is a good example of 32.0 degrees being both the freezing and melting point.

This was an amazing example of the NE Georgia "wedge". I got on 85 at Hamilton Mill Rd (exit 120) at 34 degrees and in less than 1 & 1/2 hrs at the Sugarloaf Pkwy exit (about 15 miles S) it was a balmy 56. Sure did feel good after the last couple of weeks I might add.

I drove into the wedge coming home this afternoon up GA 400. I was north of Cumming in Forsyth County and the temp said 55 on my truck. In exactly 2 miles the temp dropped to 39 with thick fog. No joke. Pretty amazing.
