Well, just got back online after a two day outage. Blessed wind. I couldn't get the guy to come out yesterday ( even with the incentive of a healthy bribe ), said it was too cold !!!!:arrowhead: You live and work in the mountains dude!!! Maybe we can waltz over to mamby pamby land and get you a backbone! Tissue ?

Anyhow, with the 73 threads talking about the upcoming system and the other obs thread over 1k I thought I'd start one. What a great storm this last one turned out to be. Stop counting at about a foot because of the wind but it had to be more. There are 3 to 4 foot drifts everywhere. High today was 12 and now at 9. Gonna be cold tonight.

Pretty cool shot of the snow on visible sat. In Georgia the south and east extent of the snow lines up perfectly with the spine of the apps.

Good view of that moisture you was talking about. Hopefully it doesn't screw us up too much but even some light returns associated with it which means it's thick enough that it will hurt us probably. Naturally lol

29 right now here. Got to 33.5

btw, mt mitchell got down to -6 last night.

Low was 8 this morning, and high was 30. It's 21 now, and the ice is still everywhere. Made this pic this morning of Otter Lake across the road from my house. Until I threw the snowballs onto the ice, you couldn't really tell it was frozen over. Hockey anyone? Better yet, a double Axel.....

Historic Coldest December on Record Continues. W/o figuring in todays way below normal departure, Greensboro and Raleigh both are -9.5 halfway through the month. In Greensboro From December 1-13th we have been below normal everyday with the exception of December 1st, thanks to a hight temp recorded at 12;01 a.m on that day we where +3. Raleigh had one day of normal, one day(Dec 1st again) above normal, and the rest below. I think we end up coldest December of all time. The thing that will top all this off, is if we can have our seasonal snowfall average occur inside this one month time frame. What a history making month, and if that weekend storm does ride the coast, it will most likely get blocked and continue to drill down the cold. Finally a wash/rinse/repeat pattern I enjoy.

Did some more spot checks around the SE. As of December 13th (Yesterday)

New Bern, Asheville & Athens all are -10 and even colder for the month than Raleigh and Greensboro. This weekend feature and how it exits stage right will put the nail in the coffin in regards to making this the coldest December on record, even if we just average out normal the last week of the month.

Huntsville at -8.6

Nashville -9.?

But 1st place is Gainsville Florida currently at -11.1 so far
