Alyeska has picked up 40" new in the last 3 days with 77" so far this May with 895" and counting for the season. Still 198" at the top of chair 6. They were closed today due to high avalanche danger.

Nice...looks like I need to move there. There's no such thing as too much snow in my mind. :snowman:

Had a morning of low of 32° F and a light frost. Just a friendly reminder from Mother Nature that you can't plant tender plants around here until about Memorial Day and early June at 2K.

Hi Mitch, yep, Alaska is the place for me. Got down to 30 here and you're absolutely right it's really early June before we're out of the woods.

Bring it. And I dare you to be as detailed as he was. Mob hit on THAT.

So now you're in here to troll me? lol I'm out living life dude, my world isn't all wrapped up with the drama you and your cadre like to whip up in OT or over at your vanity forum. I'm just hanging out in here with my friends shooting the sh*t. Cheetah has been a fixture here for a long time and many of us have met the man and seen that he doesn't have horns. Just breaking the tough news that he's been killed off just the way you're trying to kill me. Go ahead, make some more open threats. I've done nothing wrong and it's plain for all to see you have a personal vendetta with me. So what's you're next move stud? Going to ban me for nothing?

It must be tough not having any friends your own age. At least you have found some compassionate elders that will tolerate your presence. The alcohol probably makes it easier.

That's one of the problems of our educational system - making people only hang out with people their own age range. Long time ago you went to school with people of all age ranges - college too but that's all changed. It wasn't just a matter of someone's age as to whether they would tolerate someone.

79° for a high here, but barely. I think it would have been 78.5 if I had a digital thermometer. I'm still working on a solar powered fan for my digital one. Cooling off nicely...down to 56 here and 54 a little higher up. I'm hoping for the 40s to get the house nice and cool for tomorrow.

I was just noting that according to NOHRSC, there's still a good amount of snow in the Gaspe and north shore of Quebec....not too far away from here.

Nothing like Alaska, but still nice to see our "region" (NE North America).

There is something to be said for mentors. How did you do this season sugaring? Seems like it was a sub-par year for many with the crazy warmth we had in March. I was just outside and it's cooling off quickly, great night for star gazing. Another benefit to living in the hinterlands, no light pollution.

My last classic of the night..I remember in college having drunk air guitar contests to this..and me typically winning...this came on my ipod while staining today and I had to stop and bang out some air guitar with the brush

Dude, we are alike in a scary way. Not only are those my fav Beastie songs, I fooking love "One". That part after 5 min in.....I'm doing like 95mph with my eyes shut when that comes on. Outstanding.

I've wanted to do some skiing up on the Gaspe peninsula but haven't made it there yet. My friends are getting set to do 3 weeks at Denali culminating with a ski descent off the summit. May is a big month to make a push for the top. Wish I was there still.

One of these days I'd like to get up there and go hiking in Forillon National Park. That is the northernmost end of the Appalachians..where they come to an end, at the end of the Forillon Peninsula.

This absolutely completely blows. I received a letter back from WCSU today and they are unable to offer me a transfer to WCSU. I'm going to assume it's due to my academic performance for my semester at LSC. The letter states that I can take classes as a non-matriculated student but since that means I'm not enrolled at WCSU does that mean I wouldn't be able to live on campus? This is a massive blow and I seriously don't know what to do except just give up I guess.

You can't give up Paul. You could start by trying to speak to someone in the admissions office. If nothing else you might be able to find out the unvarnished truth about why you weren't accepted. You could also enroll at the closest community college. After a semester or two where you display some academic hard work your semester at LSC will be ancient history. Giving up is the easy way out. Where there's a will there's a way. There have been people that faced much greater obstacles and through hard work they've overcome them. You'll do the same if you persevere. Chin up and stay after it Paul.

Good words of advice Pete. Never give up. Like Pete said chin up and work that much harder.

Hey Scooter, how was your trip to the happy valley?

It was good...it's always a nice drive out there. Lots of talent displayed as usual. Ended up staying in Amherst and ate at this place called The High Horse which took the place of the Amherst Brewing Company. They moved to another location. Said hello to the distant hills visible west of the river....lol.

Yes, the talent can be quite exceptional. Particularly in Northampton. When I was a single man it was like being a kid in a candy store. I'm not really familiar with the curent line up of restaurants in Amherst as we typically stay in the NOHO area. Here's a shot of the Berks viewed from the east side of the river.
