This wx sucks for a Saturday. Unless you are living vicariously through friends in AK, or drinking coffee wearing a shawl while fighting wind farms in NW MA...this sucks. At least we got some rain last night.

LOL--we had a peak of sun a few mintues ago. Back to overcast, but it's going to shape up nicely.

This is the biggest misconception you city dwellers have about country life. Nothing to do? More like so much to do. True there isn't a mall nearby to go to but I couldn't think of a worse activity. Golf, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, gardening, mountain biking, building a fort with the kids, home improvement projects, sitting and relaxing with a book in quiet desolation, all are on the table. What do you urbanites do for fun? Used syringe hunts, guess the # of homicides overnight, put thicker bars on the windows, find a better parking space?

We made the family trip to Target last night. My wife referred to it as "the big city store".

-4.6 here so far this month. That will ease this week, but when is the last time the 1st week of any month came in that cool?

At BOS, July 2009 when the first week clocked in with a solid -6.0. Before that, December 2007's first seven days came in at -10.9.

How many Mays ended up -5 or below for Bos?

2: 2005 and 1967 with -5.4 and -6.0 respectively. A couple caveats (as usual) in that the departures are based upon today's normals, and the KBOS proper data only goes back to the '30s. It's possible there are other years where it occurred, but it shows you the relative rarity of it. -5 or lower in any month is about a once in three years occurrence as there have been 11 such months since 1980.

Thanks, so - departures are rarer than positive departures it seems.>
