Why isn't the NTA data updated past 2010?

Recommended Posts

It's been like that for awhile, some indices are just not followed up on or discontinued...

Thanks.

I'm going to assume it just hasn't been followed up. Normally if they are discontinued there will be a header in the column on the right hand side

Perhaps at some point down the road the data will be updated. I remember the CAR data was not updated past 2003 but then early 2011 it was updated through 2010 but that index as well has not been updated since 2010.

Does anyone know why the data has not been updated past 2010?

To overcome this problem, one should probably use the TNA (Tropical North Atlantic) Index, which can be found at: http://www.esrl.noaa...lation/tna.data. One could make some estimates based on the two indices to take an educated guess at the missing NTA values. Ideally, the index would be updated.

Have you e-mailed ESRL?

I have not emailed them but perhaps I will.

Thanks for the response!
