Hoosier
Heaviest rain looks like it will probably sag out of southern Lake/Porter IN in the not too distant future. Latest radar trends are pretty disturbing for Livingston through southern Kankakee/northern Iroquois...repeated development with no sign of a quick southward move. Could see some excessive totals come out of that area.

LizardMafia
Got woken up by marble sized hail hitting my bedroom window at 4:00AM this morning. Fairly loud. Saw a few flashes and heard some rumbles of thunder (of course causes our Husky to freak out). But it looks like everything stayed just off to the NW. PSUBlizzicane2007
Blah at the latest SPC update. Only very limited severe chances now for the mid OH valley... if that. The lapse rates aren't cooperating at all.

McDude
Kind of annoying video, but the best one I can find of this gustnado/haboob/microburst. I've only experienced something similar to this once in my life. It knocked down the most tree's I've ever seen, literally every street had a tree knocked down. Winds were 80-90mph. I was a kid at the time. Still remember it. Before it hit, there was a huge wall of dust coming, had to run inside when it started pelting me.http://blog.chicagow...icago-july.htmlDid some digging and found a brief mention of it on Ask Tom. Chicago WX
PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO IL 713 PM CDT MON MAY 7 2012 /813 PM EDT MON MAY 7 2012/ ...SOME PRELIMINARY RESULTS FROM THE IROQUOIS COUNTY DAMAGE SURVEY... THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE ALONG ROUTE 24 BETWEEN CRESCENT CITY AND THE WEST SIDE OF WATSEKA WAS CONFIRMED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. APPROXIMATELY 50 POWER POLES WERE BLOWN OVER THE TOLEDO PEORIA AND WESTERN RAILROAD TRACKS NEAR ROUTE 24...ALONG WITH MULTIPLE TREES UPROOTED. THE DOWNBURST WIND SPEEDS THAT CAUSED THIS DAMAGE WERE ESTIMATED BY THE SURVEY TEAM TO HAVE BEEN UP TO 100 MPH. A DECISION ON THE CAUSE OF THE SMALLER...POSSIBLY TORNADIC...AREA OF DAMAGE ON TWO PROPERTIES SOUTHEAST OF WATSEKA...EAST OF ROUTE 1 AND SOUTH OF ROUTE 24...HAS NOT BEEN MADE YET. THE WIND SPEEDS THAT CAUSED THE DAMAGE WERE ALSO ESTIMATED TO HAVE BEEN AROUND 100 MPH HOWEVER. A FULL REPORT WILL BE ISSUED IN ANOTHER PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT LATER THIS EVENING AFTER A THOROUGH ASSESSMENT OF RADAR DATA IN TANDEM WITH THE PHOTOS AND EXTENSIVE EYEWITNESS ACCOUNTS GATHERED TODAY. $$ RC

Hoosier
Tornado confirmed east of Watseka PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO IL 1031 PM CDT MON MAY 7 2012 /1131 PM EDT MON MAY 7 2012/ ..EF-1 TORNADO SOUTHEAST OF WATSEKA EVENT...EF1 TORNADO. MAXIMUM WINDS...85 TO 95 MPH. PATH LENGTH...1.5 MILES. LOCATION...2.5 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF WATSEKA TO 4 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF WATSEKA. MAXIMUM WIDTH...ESTIMATED TO BE APPROXIMATELY 100 TO 200 YARDS. TIME...ESTIMATED BETWEEN 4:48 PM AND 4:54 PM PER ACCOUNTS AND RADAR IMAGERY. DAMAGE...TWO FARMSTEADS EXPERIENCED ALMOST ALL OF THE DAMAGE WITH THIS TORNADO...WITH THREE OTHERS HAVING SOME TREE DAMAGE. A SMALL BARN WAS DESTROYED WITH ITS CINDER BLOCK WALLS TOPPLED AND ROOF THROWN ONE HALF MILE. MULTIPLE OUTBUILDINGS HAD MAINLY MINOR DAMAGE. ONE UTILITY POLE WAS DOWNED. REMARKS...AT ONE OF THE FARMSTEADS THERE WERE SEVERAL IMPALED OBJECTS...INCLUDING PIECES OF WOOD INTO A CAMPER AND THE GROUND...AS WELL AS A STOP SIGN INTO THE SOIL OF AN UPROOTED TREE BASE. COMPLEXITIES...THIS SURVEY WAS COMPLEX WITH THE TORNADO WITHIN A GENERAL AREA OF WIDESPREAD STRONG...AND AT TIMES SEVERE...STRAIGHT- LINE WINDS. MANY OF THE ACCOUNTS FROM CITIZENS NEAR THE DAMAGE AREA MENTIONED SEEING ROTATION WITHIN THE CLOUDS AT SOME POINT...ALTHOUGH THERE WERE AREA REPORTS OF WIDESPREAD DUST AND APPARENT WEAK GUSTNADOES IN IN ADVANCE OF STRONG WINDS AND ZERO VISIBILITY WITHIN HEAVY RAIN SOON AFTER THAT. THERE APPEARED TO BE STORM INTERACTION BASED ON RADAR IN THIS AREA THAT HELPED TO DEVELOP A TORNADO NEAR THE FRONT EDGE OF THE STRONG WINDS. HISTORY...THIS WAS THE FIRST TORNADO IN IROQUOIS COUNTY SINCE AN EF0 OCCURRED NEAR CISSNA PARK ON JUNE 21ST 2010.
