Chicago WX
Storm getting close to LAF not warned, but the sky/clouds to the west right now are pretty cool looking. EDIT: 47 mph gust at LAF 5 minutes ago. Not too shabby.
wisconsinwx
The thunder from the storms just south is pretty frequent and apparent even from inside the campus library. Looks like the activity is winding down and about to move out. It has been an active week of weather in the Midwest to say the least.

wisconsinwx
Got some nice heavy rain with a little T&L mixed in. Finally all lined up to cash in after all the unfortunate misses during this active period. That's good to hear. You deserve some old fashioned springtime showers and t'storms. Now the airport's May total won't be so out of whack with the rest of the region either.
Chicago WX
Nice photos vortex. As for the storms that came through here, dropped a couple of trees on the west side according to the LSRs. Peak wind gust of 48mph at LAF.

Now the airport's May total won't be so out of whack with the rest of the region either. Thanks! It was the perfect hr or so watching it come down... nothing severe like I hate but it had enough close lightning and loud thunder to make you go Ooh and Ahh and almost poo yourself a little. Picked up close to 2" in that hr or so.
Hoosier
Heh, I thought I heard something that sounded like a siren too. Weird. But yes, a good typical thunderstorm. Efficient rain producer with a few decent cracks of thunder. Someone might have seen something (or thought they did). There's often a nonzero threat of spinups near the leading edge but even when that doesn't happen, there can be low cloud formations/scud that can be deceptive. I remember something like this happening a year or two ago with the sirens.

Hoosier
Definitely seems like the strongest winds (just saw a 57 mph report so probably spotty low end severe criteria) went across the north part of LAF. Most reports coming from there and matches up with radar at the time.
