Chicago Storm

The one back in February hit my nephews house (that is the southern most red line) - we could see the power flashes from my place up here on the hill. The radar images from that outbreak were impressive - scary. VERY early morning event for a lot of those tornadoes in southern IL - between 2 am and 5 am.

There was a very brief, weak tornado in southern Ford County south of Gibson City on July 31st. If you go to the NWS Chicago Facebook page, the spotter who called in the report posted a photo of it.

Thanks for the info. I knew there was a report, but didn't see any additional info on it.

I went ahead and added it to my previous post.

The lack of tornadoes in the DVN area the last several years has been quite striking. The overall lack of strong tornadoes the last few decades compared to other areas is also quite notable. The other shoe will drop eventually unfortunately. I just hope people in this area haven't grown too complacent.
