wisconsinwx
Like some have been saying, the temperature trends in the past 24 hours have been very weird. It was in the low 60s yesterday evening, it rose to 70F at the airport at 3am this morning, and now it's back to 62F. Really? Now that I think of it, it must have been an outflow boundary from convection that just plowed through NE Wisconsin and across Lake Michigan. Good thing we're not expecting any severe today, or that would be squelched.
daddylonglegs
I highly doubt 95f here...I'm going with 92F.... Recent rains, the fact we are starting off in the 60fs... core of the heat seems to be staying down in IL...

Rose to 73° on a light south wind, but not enough of an offshore wind to keep the marine air back. Will say today is an allergy day - I can really feel it. frostfern
Yeah! They probably won't get there 86° day because of it. T-storm outflow is really hanging up the surface warm front despite 20C temps pushing in at 850 mb.
frostfern
Check out the Milwauke radar loop. For a moment I thought there were storms firing in SW Wisconsin despite the thermonuclear cap moving in. LOL. Was that clutter due to a temperature inversion or what?
wxman1952
The 89 we were suppose to reach isn't going to make lt. We did get to 77 but with more rain awhile ago we're back down to 70. .58" fell here while over 2" fell the county to my north. I am thankfull we did get some needed rain as 92 is forecasted for tomorrow.

Geos
94 °F in Madison at 4 pm. RH down to 28 % The difference between Madison and Milwaukee is substantial! Barely cracked 80° in Milwaukee (81°) - already down to 73°. 82° here now. A forecast bust within 10 miles of the lake or so I would say. Edit: Already 73° outside at 8pm. Pretty nice out! Forecasted lows already busted.

michsnowfreak
our climate is just awesome...just blazing hot out there tonight...hard to imagine the beach can look like this Thats whats great about having 4 seasons in the Great Lakes, which include hot summers and cold winters. We enjoy distinct changes every single year that many places do not get to experience. I do not like the heat, but appreciate it as part of our climate. For the 2nd day in a row highs in SE MI busted by 5-10 degrees cooler than forecast, very comfortable day today, though I suspect we will sneak into the heat briefly tomorrow. I'm going to throw open a couple windows for awhile! weird...that outflow boundary lost a lot of punch by the time it got down here...we cooled off but rebounded pretty quick. Still 80+ outside easy. I just stubbled across the pic...if someone didn't know better, it could pass for a legit arctic scene.

A-L-E-K
the pic was the day after the blizzard...most of the snow had blown off the ice inland. It's hard to convey just how prolonged the impressive NE winds were right off the lake. In fact most of the beach was snowless bare sand....the basketball court was covered in 6"+ of sand and the surrounding park is still loaded with sand. In fact most of the beach was snowless bare sand....the basketball court was covered in 6"+ of sand and the surrounding park is still loaded with sand. The snow total was "only" 12-14 inches on my side of the lake, but there was already 10-12" of dry unconsolidated powder on the ground at the lake shore before the storm even started. The storm picked up and drifted all the old snow along with the new, so the aftermath looked more like 24" blizzard than the 12-14" that actually fell during the storm. There was some impressive hip-deep snow to wade through on the beach before you got out on the ice. The break mounds were the highest I'd ever seen. kevlon62
Spent a nice evening out at Balmoral but we couldn't stick it out long enough for the final race and fireworks. Quite a summeresque evening with low 80's still at play when we left.Track was fast and hard with water truck keeping dust down between runs. It has been dry in this immediate area over the last few weeks. Last Sunday's storms (a week ago) across the area really skirted the northern Will County region. Closing up a long weekend here in Monee with a return home to Woodstock tomorrow morning for one more bbq and perhaps some active weather to boot. I remembered seeing a flash flood warning out to the east of Rockford. There is a weird temperature plot playing out within 2 miles of here tonight. 65° at the airport about 1.6 miles down the road. 68° here and it's 73° 1 mile east of here at a station in Zion. Weird, not complaining though! Edit: Just had a 7° temperature rise in the last 15 minutes. At 75° now.

Chicago Storm
I'm sure some have seen this already, but for those who haven't... PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO IL 553 AM CDT SUN MAY 27 2012 /653 AM EDT SUN MAY 27 2012/ ...RECORD WARM WINTER AND SPRING LEADING TO RECORD WARM LAKE TEMPERATURES... THE RUN OF UNSEASONABLY TO OCCASIONALLY RECORD WARM TEMPERATURES ARE POISED TO THREATEN...IF NOT BREAK...MORE RECORDS. THROUGH MAY 26TH...THIS SPRING IN CHICAGO IS ON PACE TO BE THE WARMEST SPRING ON RECORD IN CHICAGO. AS OF THE 26TH THIS SPRING WAS RUNNING ABOUT 0.7 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE CURRENT RECORD WARM SPRING IN CHICAGO (1977). BASED ON OUR CURRENT FORECAST THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH...IT APPEARS LIKELY THAT THE 2012 SPRING WILL BREAK THE RECORD FOR THE WARMEST SPRING EVER IN CHICAGO. THE WINTER/SPRING 6 MONTH PERIOD THAT WILL WRAP UP AT THE END OF THIS MONTH ALSO LOOKS AS THOUGH IT WILL BE THE WARMEST WINTER-SPRING PERIOD ON RECORD IN CHICAGO. THIS PROLONGED PERIOD OF RECORD WARM TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE REGION IS RESULTING IN RECORD AND NEAR RECORD WARM WATER TEMPERATURES FOR SOUTHERN LAKE MICHIGAN. THE FOLLOWING TEMPERATURE INFORMATION IS BASED ON THE WATER TEMPERATURES AS RECORDED AT THE MID-LAKE SOUTH BUOY...WHICH IS LOCATED ABOUT 50 MILES EAST OF MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN. WATER TEMPERATURES ALONG THE NEARSHORE ARE OFTEN CONSIDERABLY MILDER THIS TIME OF YEAR...HOWEVER THERE IS NO READILY AVAILABLE LONG PERIOD OF RECORD OF ARCHIVED WATER TEMPERATURES NEAR THE SHORE. AT THE SOUTH BUOY...WATER TEMPERATURES THIS PAST WEEK HAVE BEEN CONSISTENTLY IN THE 50S...PEAKING AT 59.2 DEGREES LAST WEDNESDAY. BASED ON DATA GOING BACK TO 1982...THE AVERAGE WATER TEMPERATURE AT THE SOUTH BUOY FOR MAY 21ST THROUGH 25TH IS 41.0F...SO THE SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE LAKE ARE RUNNING 10F TO ALMOST 20F ABOVE THE 30 YEAR AVERAGES. ONLY ONCE BEFORE ON RECORD HAVE WATER TEMPERATURES BEEN THIS WARM ANY EARLIER IN THE SEASON AND THAT WAS BACK ON MAY 16 1991 WHEN WATER TEMPERATURES BRIEFLY REACHED 60F. ALSO...ROCKFORD IS ON PACE TO SHATTER THEIR CURRENT RECORD FOR WARMEST WINTER-SPRING PERIOD ON RECORD...LIKELY BY MORE THAN 2F! THIS SPRING IS ALSO ON PACE AND VERY LIKELY WILL BREAK THE RECORD FOR THE WARMEST ON RECORD IN ROCKFORD. IZZI
ukrocks
That stinks! Maybe try to do the strenuous work early in the morning or late in the day. If anything - take lots of water breaks! Ended up not being as bad I thought it would be. I think it's too early in the season to get to 100 degrees. The grass is still fresh and green. I think we need severe drought conditions to hit 100 degrees. Only got up to 94, still 15 degrees above average. Thank goodness, it looks like next weekend we may be in the 70's!
