The active pattern of the last several days was pretty much a bust here. We always seemed to be in an unfavorable spot, stuck under stabilizing debris clouds from MCSs to the south with cold pool outflow boundaries pushing well away from the area. We ended up being capped on at least three days. Sunday looked like the one guaranteed day with at least a solid rain for the entire area, but even that didn't happen as we barely got a drop. The next week looks quiet. Hopefully the second half of the month will be more interesting.

Rain here 5 days in a row, just over 2 inches total... Not a lot, but still a wet start.

Looks to be a wonderful day today... Sun now ...time to dry some stuff out. Hung clothes outside yesterday...that was a mistake...hopefully they don't smell like a wet dog.

Averaging +7.2F for the month to date... huh? We've been under constant cloud cover; I guess those warm night time temps are the culprit.

At 100,000 km this one of the largest sunspot groups in recent years. Its shear size can be seen with the naked eye(not recomended) and a simple back yard telescope. The sun is running much hotter as of late and these large scale spots don't seem to be going anywhere. Long live the solar maximum.

We had our 10th 80+ degree day today for the year. We've also already hit 17 days this year 75+.

That's a pretty good tally! I've only managed 3 here so far and none were last month! lol

---

Wall to wall clouds again today! Light rain and drizzle up until 2pm. High 59°.

There's some seriously dense fog out tonight! Visibilities here are about 200 feet! Like pea soup. I think an advisory is going to be needed in the area - both radiational and lake fog is enveloping the area.

my eyes are suspicious of this claim

Well at least off Kenosha 10 miles or so it is mostly clear. Definitely more clouds over the warmer land.

And looking at the satellite picture that seems to be true by Chicago as well.
