That MCS is really lighting off in western pa. Let's see it can keep its act together getting here.

Yea, it just may take too much of a southern route and miss us to the west, it seems to be turning that way.

More locally, shocking that allentown is getting it again. I was going to post this morning that I didn't know how much coverage todays convection would have but I would guarantee that someone within 20 miles of Allentown gets hammered which seems to be developing. Also, totally unrelated, but Beryl doesn't look too terrible on radar, for what it is.

we have good instability around, my only issue is timing as it will be after dark when it gets here.

Tom Timmer,

Are you going to live stream and core punch when you intercept?!!!

On a more serious note, I share your concerns. Better yet, I would if we stabilize too much after dark and we get nothing. RAP keeps us dry here in SE PA

if this was winter and it was a clipper yes....not sure if the reason why it dies is because the apps. Mcs's are just very rare around here. More common out in western pa.

just something I have observed. The apps seem to kill a lot of systems.

It seems the best pattern for t-storms in my area is when they form west and travel east.

Storm beginning to weaken here around Harrisburg. Wind gusts were not generally over 30mph, no lightning/thunder, and rain is not very heavy.

The MCS is holding strength fine, 87 mph with roofs off houses reported in Chambersburg. Lightning isn't a good factor in determining whether an MCS is weakening or not, it's a crapshoot whether they're accompanied by a lot of it.

Yea, thanks, I understand lightning has no determination for the intensity of a thunderstorm. Winds were not a factor here in the central parts of Dauphin county excluding a few limbs down. The complex has definitely begun to weaken as evidence by the latest returns. I know spotters east of Chambersburg and they vouched only wind gusts around 40mph recorded in their area. That wind gust was likely localized in nature. According to current scanner feed, only a few trees down in the area with the more widespread power outages and trees down more displaced towards west-central Pennsylvania around the Indiana and Clearfield county area.
