Not happy about the rain this weekend at all. Was unreal past 2 days and then rain this weekend...and you are all happy?

I dont get it.

I need something to make me stay inside and study for the CFA this weekend, so I'm going to be selfish and say I wouldn't mind it. Otherwise it would def be pissing me off.

was the last noreaster in October?...I'll believe a noreaster when I see it...

I agree and the 18Z GFS has changed quite a bit from 12Z - about half of the total precip of the 12Z and much warmer Saturday through Monday - models will not be able to start getting a better handle on this situation until the system in the North Pacific gets closer to the west coast

A March 2010 repeat would be great.

Having heavy rain is one thing, but a March 2010 repeat IMBY would not be great in terms of the wind... large trees were down everywhere, almost every street was closed at one point. I was one of the lucky ones to lose power for "only" 2 days. Other than the wind part, we definitely need the rain, but too much rain at once also may not be such a good thing.

Agreed the 18Z GFS would be perfect to get some water into the soil without downpours that runoff- a two day light to moderate rain

About 1.5" in less than 12 hours Sunday and Sunday night after a half inch from Saturday thru Sunday.

I'm just amazed at how even watering the lawn is doing so little. The ground is as hard as a rock. Grass is growing in patches, every day my car gets another layer of green on it.

Same here...why i did not look myself...thank you

Euro for NYC has 2.5"-3" of rain. Most of it falls Sunday Morning through Monday morning.

It also has the ULL meandering around the area with on and off rain Monday through Wednesday night.

GGEM is 3" of rain as well

6z GFS is 1.75" to 2"

JMA is over 3"

Euro ensembles support the operational

Model consensus 4 days out? Why couldn't the models have done this the past 2 winters?

That would be a drought buster.

It wouldn't erase the deficit since January, in fact 2" would only give us half of this month's average precip, considering we had less than a half inch so far this month. It may be helpful for short term drought relief but a couple more significant rain events are necessary to truly alleviate drought concerns.

And this storm is still a big "if". It could just as easily only give us an inch of rain rather than 2-3".
