Yuu know weather is boring when we have a thread for fire watches. I mean come on. Very few areas can even potentially be effected. Any fires that spread will be minimal unless in a nature preserve or out of the immediate metro.

Remember summer 1995?

All of the fires that torched the LI pine barrens?

Locals are saying that Vernon fire is still spreading up a mountain. Barry Lakes is on the other side of this mountain.

Earlier this week a wildfire broke out in Butler, NJ and threatened nearby homes. Thankfully, they put that one out quick.

I look up from my front yard and I'm looking at where High Point State Park and Stokes State Forest meet. I've been very mindful of the threat of fires in my area.

I think it was April 2010 there was a large forest fire nearby, I could smell it :(

And tomorrow probably to and possibly Monday

Monday will be bad, it looks like it will be breezy and dry.

I don't think that next weeks rain will help out that much, if we get more than .25" of rain I will be very surprised, and the torch coming after next week will only worsen the problem.

Here is the HPC's 5-day precip map:

Pretty pathetic IMO

looks likely that they'll be more rain in southern California than here the next few days.
