mayjawintastawm
Great pics, thanks, and great memories. My wife is from "Betlum", I used to take music lessons in the last door on the left in picture #1, my mother in law worked at the Moravian Bookshop, and my wife had "breakfast with the bridesmaids" the day before we got married, at the Sun Inn. Not much has changed in 17 years!
Voyager
Great pics, thanks, and great memories. My wife is from "Betlum", I used to take music lessons in the last door on the left in picture #1, my mother in law worked at the Moravian Bookshop, and my wife had "breakfast with the bridesmaids" the day before we got married, at the Sun Inn. Not much has changed in 17 years! Thanks! I am a "Betlum" native having been born and raised there. I love the city and wish I could return to live there again, but alas, I'm stuck up here with the coalcrackers. Anyway, while not much has changed physically in the historic area, much has changed elsewhere. The Bethlehem Steel is now Sands Casino and Resort, there are new buildings in the old vacant lots at Broad and New Streets and Broad and Main. The old Plaza Mall has been removed and Broad Street is a through street again. What I noticed the most, though, was the amount of people activity on a normal Sunday afternoon. When I lived there prior to 1996, the downtown area was a ghost town on a Sunday. Today, restaurants and boutiques that would have been closed on a Sunday, are now open. It was rather vibrant and bustling with shoppers, diners, and tourists, which was nice to see. I'm glad my hometown has come alive again!
Akeem the African Dream
Pretty amazing what has happened on the southside of Bethlehem over the last few years with the Sands and Steelstacks. Musikfest is always my favorite time in the area where you took pictures.
Voyager
I tried to repeat my success with this series in a walk this past weekend in Tamaqua. No such luck. When there is nothing attractive or interesting to photograph, you strike out, as I did.
