ChrisM
That's awesome! Awesome images. The satellite grab is pretty sweet. I was up hiking the presidentials a couple of years ago and there was smoke in the valleys, really cool.

I remember when I would go out on the front porch to get the mail and I'd look at rhe ksy and it would be all hazy...it was really cool and eerie. dendrite
Yeah...those pics highlights how smokey it was around here on 5/31/2010. I remember 2002 being a thicker smoke creating darker conditions during the day. One of the famous smoke days in recorded New England history is what became known as Yellow day from Sep 6, 1881. Apparently most of the region remained dark all day. The culprit was fires burning in MI and ON.

Bozart
Hey BoBo !! You live!! Still smoking like a chimney, eating crappy food and hitting the hard liquor? Stay after it dude! dendrite
It'll change but the euro has d10 850s of 16C. We'll probably get a transient shot of warmth in SNE at some point around that time before cooling back off to more seasonable temps.
powderfreak
Ahhh snowy Easter morning Dusting above 1,000ft so far and persistent light snow has been falling since around 4am. I skinned up the mountain via headlamp at 4:30am to get to the Easter Sunrise Service at the summit (other more sane people took the Gondola) and I was watching fluffy dendrites fall in my headlamp the whole way up there. At the top, it was coming down nicely during the service. 33F and Light Snow in town. A preview of what this week should bring with persistent moisture and upslope flow. ski MRG
No cigarettes since Thanksgiving! You know, right after your last decent snow. Nice work on the lung darts Boz. I've had about 10x your average seasonal snowfall since T-day despite this being a very low snow year. You and your friends in OT should start a hunger strike to get my OT privileges reinstated. It's obvious that you guys miss me based on the frequent visits by all the well wishers from the MA. You have to admit without me its been boring in there. Organize it with Forky, I'll wait here for word of my restoration.
powderfreak
This is my kind of church service... never been a real church-goer but I do worship Ullr and he was out there with us today. Easter Sunrise Service in the snow. A real choir can sing in any weather, lol. 24F, gusty winds, falling and blowing snow off the roof. Happy Easter everyone. Mr Torchey
Happy Easter! Not a cloud in the sky (again)..........okx going with highs between 57-62 for the forseeable future, splendid weather but we sure need rain. A very scary day yesterday, really dont want to discuss it much, but thankfully a house was mostly saved from fire and we were able to get an elderly woman out unharmed yesterday in Darien Ct. A cigarette was tossed over a porch and within 30 seconds flames were engulfing this persons home. I have a new found respect for fire, and its scared the living **** out of me. Have a safe and happy day

Seems possible give the set-up. I think its quite likely... one of these nights we'll get a surprise. Anytime there's a cut-off and cold enough temps to snow (at least at 1,000-1,500ft and above) with some orographic flow... there'll be some vort max or piece of energy that swings through with some focused moisture and lift, which will light up the natural snowmaking system for a time. One morning this week we'll wake up and find a few inches over the mountains.

Well, there are snowshowers in the forecast for every period from tonight through Thursday, my guess is at some point we'll get the ground whitened. God, you've really turned grouchy, you're just p*ssing on everybody's dreams. I'm glad you're not going to the GTG. No reason to have a good time ruined by a crabby old man. Scooter, of course, had to try to bring me down but I've lived here long enough to know how it goes here in April. I feel sorry for the Coastal dwellers that have forgotten what snow looks like. Alyeska continues to pick up new snow as well, 5" yesterday and now up to 840" for the year with a 181" base. I guess there will still be snow when I get there.lol

However, given where I live (and where you live) and the fact that we have some chilly, cut-off air around, we might as well be on the lookout for snow because there's nothing else to pay attention to. But I'm not going to try and tell all the coastal plain folks that they should be touting cold and snow because it just isn't in the cards there. Well you are in a different area even from ski MRG's point of view. Like I said..snow showers are one thing, but something that delivers greater than 3" of snow....not so sure about that for his area. There's always the chance of a fluke event, but they are just that..flukes.
