I'm getting a bit concerned abut my lack of rain so far this year. I know a lot of you have had plenty of rain, but here the year is off to a bad start. Only .74 for April with none in sight. With 7.12 for the year I am already 6" below normal.

I hear you Mr. Burns! The last two weeks of Feb, and the first two weeks of March were gang busters in my yard with 8.45 inches. Since mid March I've had 1.2. All that early bounty will dry out eventually with no replentishment. Worrysome!

Got in the 30's last night though, so all is not bad. Got to 38.4. Hope there is plenty more of that to come....a nice, cold rainy summer would be welcome here.

I'm much nicer in person :hug: Hopefully you can make the next SE g2g too :wub: I can't wait to meet everyone next year at the conference. I've become friends with so many people over the years, and while internet/text/phone chats are great, there is nothing like spending time face to face with everyone ^_^

CAE didn't drop below 40 this morning, but there is another chance tomorrow before the heat returns :lol:

That would not surprise me because as I've told you and many others a lot, you always are such a sweet and classy woman on here. You have a high bar to hurdle though because you are so damn nice here...so you better do a good job :lmao:

I think one reason we have made so many friends is we all share the same passion, have respect for each other, and enjoy each others posts. You can't find many forums that focus on other things where that is the case to be honest. I have never seen a nicer, classier, and respectful group of people than our southeast group on the net..it's been that way since wwbb...and that's the honest truth.

And I can honestly say the staff here is the same. You guys (and gals lol) don't see it as much as I do but they are such a great and respectful group of people, and I'm not just blowing smoke. It's no lie or BS that their number one goal is to make this place the most enjoyable for everyone (that includes me too of course). It's all everyone cares about and given the fact some of them have been busting their ass for years and years (even in the middle of the night), where it would be very easy to get tired of it because of the work involved, like the technical stuff, catching hell for moderating people, taking time to moderate, and doing things like organizing conferences...which Randy has done every year and it's a lot of work for him to do so too, they carry on because they care about everyone here and their enjoyment of the place. I have mad respect for everyone on the staff...although I still believe we need a woman (cough cough buckeye cough cough)

Anywho, sorry to get off topic. Dropped to 35 here this morning but again no frost, thankfully. Now on to the warmer weather finally.

I'm always here when/if I'm needed and I know the staff's goal is to make American the best it can be :wub: This is what has kept me here for over a decade, and the SE CREW.....well....you all simply ROCK :wub:

It's a beautiful day after a cool 38 degree start this morning :) Happy Friday the 13th everyone and I'll be having a drink tonight in honor of the SE CREW :hug:

Agriculture officials say this week's cold snap has damaged the apple crop in the western North Carolina mountains.

County extension agent Marvin Owens says he saw damage Thursday, and more cold weather occurred Friday morning.

Trust me, when the day comes, I'm going to be the loudest calling for you...as I was last time ;) Of course, weather has been so boring this winter, it's been a breeze as far as moderation goes lol

Only got down to 40 this morning. Last really cool morning it would appear. Glad to see it end and am very happy to see virtually no frost during this cold spell (which I thought we would get some) despite some easily cold enough temps a few nights.

00z GFS seems to show potential for severe for the Carolinas and southern Virginia next Saturday. A highly amplified 500 mb trough with a right entrance region jet max winds up to 80 kt is shown moving into the Carolinas with dew points in the 60s and decent directional shear, even at the low levels. LCL heights, theta-e and vorticities appear favorable. The only thing not showing up is instability, but the GFS is known to underdo the instability this far out.

Really looking forward to the upcoming rain event this weekend! The GFS and Euro are latching onto the idea of an upper level low forming over Texas and crawling to the east. With a nice moisture fetch off the Gulf of Mexico, we should all pick up a good bit of rain. The big winners with this solution is Florida, where they can use the rain. However, with this new solution comes a warmer than wanted pattern. This ULL doesn't drag down the cold air like a low off the Atlantic would do. It'll be interesting to see how much rain we get as most of the Southeast can use a good drink!

Good grief, why would you want cold weather this time of year lol? Thank god they have changed in that regard. Nothing worse than cold weather in mid to late april.

Sure am hoping for the rain too though and it will be nice to have something to follow weather wise. gfs/euro putting out some decent totals over the next number of days. Of course the last time that happened, I ended up with just sprinkles :arrowhead:

:lol:

I hear you about the cold weather this time of year! Still, it's nice to see the low 70s and upper 40s to low 50s this time of year. That hasn't happened much this year.

I'm still wary of the rain event this weekend as some of us COULD get dry slotted depending on the track of the low... If that happens, then it will be the ULTIMATE kick in the nuts.

Cold wx at any time of year is exciting to me. Also, it becomes extra refreshing as we get toward the warmer months because it can already be too warm for my liking (we were 85 yesterday) and because we're running out of near future cold opportunities with endless heat to soon follow. Unlike many on this BB, I don't enjoy cold spells just because of wintry precip. chances increasing.

i really hope we can get some rain in here...its getting dry and the pollen is still pretty bad since it hasnt rained in a couple of weeks. would be even better to get some storms today/tonight and then rain this weekend. the weather has been gorgeous, though, i have to admit. i noticed that i have annuals coming up from last year. just shows the complete lack of cold air this past winter. this is the first year i have had annuals return in a long time. on the plus side, less planting now haha

All of the models are now very gung-ho with a solution of a slow-moving closed low providing copious amounts of rain for basically everyone over the weekend:

post-357-0-98248600-1334684043.png

There might even be some severe weather, especially along the GOM coast.

I hope that this current system gives us some rain, then this next one even more, we do need it badly,

I hope we get this heavy rain and then some, I can't remember the last time we've had a really good downpour it feels like it's been months.It hasn't rained today yet, but apparently the pollen count is only 23 here, the lowest I've seen it all year so if the possible rain today/tomorrow and again this weekend means keeping the pollen at bay I'm all for it. I have that stupid stuff to blame for having a cold for 2 weeks. :angry:

I certainly hope you and others get some rain! :hug: That way you can see what some of my viewers saw yesterday after a quick shower dropped 0.07" :D :

Double rainbow! :hug::lol:

That's a beautiful looking map :wub: I've only had .34 for the month so far and I'm down almost 5" for the year :( Currently it's 87/60 :sun:

I want spring back :lol::P
