cyclone77
Big time cool down tonight. Down to 49 already, which is almost 30 degrees cooler than the high according to my calculations lol. This cooler airmass is sort of a downer for most of us, but it really is a reality check that we've been living on borrowed time the last month or so. The other shoe had to drop eventually. On the plus side, beastfromtheeast will be able to fortify the thread with additional emoticons over the next few weeks lol.

*IndyMeso*
Sounds like an awesome cruise ChiStorm. My fiancee and I are headed to the Bahamas for a 5 day cruise for our honeymoon and we are really excited. Glad your trip went so well!
trapperman
GFS OP/ensembles have been showing some substantial potential for svr wx after this coming eastern trough moves off the coast, obviously still far out though, but getting this ridge out of the way will likely go a long way towards getting some more healthy systems into the central part of the country. The mid-late week system next week looks strong, and is well modeled by both ops, but it might just be the primer that ramps severe back up afterwards, since there obviously will be moisture questions since the juice will still have to take the "long way around" to get into the plains. It's what comes afterwards with decently strong westerly/southwesterly flow that interests me.
trapperman
Seems like every time I look at this it inches up... moderate Nino by Fall, blazes through neutral in April and May and we are in Nino by June? Wow.

daddylonglegs
12z GFS still cold, although not as cold as previous runs...still looking like upper 20Fs around here... all depending on wind, clouds, etc...but GFS wants to park the H right over the area...can't be good. trapperman
12z Euro went colder again for next week. Wow. Yes it did. Way out in model la-la land but it also (and to a lesser extent the GFS) wants to open a can of whoop-azz on the plains at the end of the run... Chicago Storm
Chicago-Sounds like an awesome time. I've done 2 of them... The wife and I were on Orient Beach about 10 years ago. I remember back then it was a little odd being surrounded by naked people. I still remember someone snorkeling...with just snorkeling gear on! Neat place. Its weird driving through that island because there is cactus everywhere...yet on another island (Tortola) its all tropical and lush (elevation being key...or at least I would guess that is the case since Tortola was very hilly). Today I think I'd just walk around with my Charlie Brown swinging around We didn't know it was a full nude beach until we arrived, so it was interesting at first. This combination of palms and cactus on the island makes for a nice mix of scenery. Sounds like a great trip ChiStorm. I've always wanted to go on a cruise, something I definitely plan on doing in the future. Aside from people who get seasick I've never really heard anyone have anything but praise for cruises they've been on. Same here, which is why we didn't hesitate to go. Did a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas about 5 years ago, loved every minute of it, and won enough playing blackjack that the trip ended up being free I went to the casino two nights and ended up coming out even. I might as well add to the cruise banter. I've been on 10 and have no plans to stop. I hate beaches though, so I'd rather go see other places. But right now I'm not calling the shots (or paying ) so I'll just stfu. Hate the beaches? All this cruise talk is making me depressed. hai Sounds like an awesome cruise ChiStorm. My fiancee and I are headed to the Bahamas for a 5 day cruise for our honeymoon and we are really excited. Glad your trip went so well! Thanks and have fun on yours! You will really enjoy it. trapperman
Typical CFS. Notice the blunder it made with the La Nina last year. LOL. Nice generalization. It nailed March and has been performing top notch lately. If you're referring to CFS v.1, then yes, it sucks.
trapperman
Going to be fun to watch what happens then I guess. Lots of orange blooming out there...
andyhb
All generalizations are caused from the source. Saying it "nailed" March is irrevelant. The CFS sucks on enso conditions and usually overdoes it. This.
trapperman
Well we all root for the conditions we like I guess. I say Nino, you say it sucks, you say neutral, I say it sucks. It's all good. We'll talk in July, lol.

Geos
Well I wasn't here all day, but from what I can tell it was a pretty sunny day. High 53°, which is about normal. Seems like others have gone on trips too! I was in Washington State for a couple days, main reason was to visit the WWU graduate school in Bellingham. Tuesday was a wash out there, this morning wasn't bad - little foggy here and there. Low to mid 40s. Did end up clearing up partially after 4pm. You can see that it has been a cooler winter out there, the snowpack appears to be a bit lower in elevation. There is still evidence of the snow and ice storm they had in January - tree limbs still laying around, broken off limbs & sections of trees are visible. (Especially apparent in the hills to the east of Seattle.) The green up there is at about at the same stage as this area. Lots of flowering trees, small leaves on the trees. I got some great pictures; especially from the air, I will post in the outdoor photography section. Some of the pictures are coming across WI. Will post some of those here in a bit. Tuesday morning... Was there thunderstorms just north of Milwaukee? The cumulus were really starting to grow and the wind turbulence was noteworthy. Harry
All generalizations are caused from the source. Saying it "nailed" March is irrevelant. The CFS sucks on enso conditions and usually overdoes it. One thing for sure is the Nina is toast/gone and most agree that weak nino is looking most likely. Could be stronger ( lets hope not ) depending on what the MJO etc can do. Not saying the CFS will be correct either. As you mentioned it does tend to overdo it a bit. Just saying the possibility is there.
