This is the third time this building has been hit in the last 7 years. The first time, the building burned completely down lost the all the property, permit and tax records. Whomever wants to see lightning, this is the place to be. This storm was not severe but you may have a hard time convincing the municipal officials

WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. -

"Lightning hit the Whitehall Township municipal building Wednesday afternoon, city officials said.

An afternoon thunderstorm produced several strikes that hit township buildings at 3219 MacArthur Road and a propane tank at the public works building, catching the underground tank on fire.

Firefighters were able to shut off the tank and put out the fire.

The municipal building itself was also hit but suffered no apparent damage.

The building was evacuated for a short time as a precaution.

Another strike caused a loss of pwoer to a fuel pump on the township building's property.

Firefighters were dispatched to the township building shortly after 1 p.m.

There's no word on any injuries."
