State College 12z NAM:

Seeing how it's the NAM by itself in its latest period, I'd bet money this will change.

Sauss, I had my son out for the youth hunt up at the cabin last weekend, and I can tell you that only last week did people start seeing birds, as they were MIA prior to it. We had an eventful morning, and had one at abt 55-60yds. Most we spoke to had action or heard them. If the best is beyond, there still is good hunting to be had. The cold of this week should have slowed things up and with the snow, it may have actually prolonged the mating as some nests may have been damaged by the snow, at which the hens will try all over again with another clutch. That might keep the Toms talkin.

Good luck this weekend. I'm going up next Wed. for my Cinco de Mayo Turkey bash on the hill.

Well thats a positive sign then. I know they were pretty voicetress a couple weeks ago down here. My friends told me they have clamed up, but like you said, maybe the weather now will help. Good luck to all Saturday. My High School team is in a tourney Saturday, so i won't get out until next week.unless the weather postpones it.

Back to weather, lol.......to me, looks like the high here is 40, appears to hang out in the mid to high 30's all day. i mentioned this earlier, but even at MDT we could see some mixing early Saturday morning.

Wife and I saw several Toms in a corn field near Port Matilda puttin' on the Ritz for the ladies. It's still going on here.

Weatherwise for central PA, looks like the Euro trended back a bit with precip, the NAM held steady but the 06 GFS moved away from it's 0Z thump.

Did you have rain this am? When i glanced at the radar, around 6ish, it looked like a shower was going through. It looks like it wants to rain here now.

Yeah I agree that the breeding season has not come and gone.

The birds were still flocked up only a month ago.

It wasn't until the past couple weeks when they began breaking up (sign of up coming breeding).

Haven't seen or heard too many. Will prolly get out scouting tomorrow morning to see if I can pin one.

Holy crap that video is sick hckyplayer. That sounds like a spot to be on Saturday, unfortunately the turks would be white, not brown....lol.

I've worked birds in 40 and drizzle plenty of times. wont bother them. While I always root on snow, I find myself ready to put an end to this bookend winter and get summer going so we can start to look forward the hopefully a real winter next year.

Looks like a warm up this week.

Yep, it does look like 80+ at least one day this week. But next week looks cooler than normal.

BTW, UNV is going to have a negative departure month. Currently at -0.4 and today looks about -4 to -8 or so. Same with PIT, but MDT will have a positive month.

I planted 56 plants Saturday and spread 4 cubic yards of mulch Sunday (shoveling into wheelbarrow, taking to spit, dumping and spreading), I pretty much want to die.

I hope it rains the be t few days. We're going to Texas Wed-Sub and I need to get water on the plants. It'll be 90 in Dallas all weekend, too. Joy!
