Will be interesting to see how much damage there was around here. I'd estimate the greenout is at early to mid May levels. That and lows in the 20's don't mix very well.

Last night finished off our apples, cherries, raspberries, blackberries and most of the strawberries.

That's unfortunate. I don't have any raspberries or strawberries coming up here yet. I think the coolness from the lake kept those starting too early.

Correction: I do have a handful of small strawberry plants that have come up. They look ok though.

40° to start at sunset.

DLL: the Oak trees are doing nothing here yet! Totally oblivious to the warmup last month!

Still 39 here, but I'm sure temps will tank like crazy after midnight like they have the last several nights. NWS point has been lowered to 24 I see. That's a pretty hard freeze. This morning's 26 didn't look like it did too much damage that I could see, but I don't think it was that cold for very long.

waukegan should def get below their low of 30 last night and be below freezing for longer.

About 10 hours below freezing here last night! It's like this local area has its own micro climate, lol. First ones down to freezing tonight.

Looks like airport has 6 hrs reported below 32. With a low of 30. Tonight they wont bump above freezing like this past early AM.

I remember I woke up at 4am this morning and looked at the temperature and it was 30°. Backyard thermometer reported 28.7° - likely before 1am. The airport is on a high spot surrounded by a really big open area. Temperatures really respond during a radiational cooling episode when the air starts moving.

...Kenosha airport really bottoms out sometimes.

Torching at 33.8 IMBY. Freeze fail.

Stayed above freezing in the Heart of the city. To bad it didn't stay above where it actually counts.

Temps are in the 20's (28 here) in the northern burbs. Thick killing frost right now. So far the frostiest morning in April

Prob need to calibrate your thermo. no weather station around royal oak is nearly that warm.

Just seen that. Lol

Agree. Sparty must have is Temperature gage in the garage or next to a window or along the bricks of his home surrounded by his bushes. Temp gage fail.

Looks like this thread is going to be toast soon...

Sparty gets his equipment from Saukville...

Yeah looks like one more possible 20's for you early next week and then that might be all she wrote for us Southerners Gonna take some near or record cold to get any good veg-dev once we get later in to april.

So calm and quiet out. Barely got below 32 for any time at the airport here... 28 racine and waukegan... 26 kenosha. 22.5 Geos. On to the rain chances and maybe some snow watch up north

Haha, 28° here this morning earlier. Heavier frost this morning. Looks like a dusting of snow outside! Looks like the frost built up overnight...I probably didn't get above freezing like UGN did earlier this morning.
