Hoosier
Tricky call for tonight. As has been said, there's warmer air aloft but high is more favorably positioned for Indiana so winds may be lighter and allow for better radiational cooling. Hoosier
probably end up more or less the same Yeah...I'll go middle of the road and say 36 at LAF. Potential to end up a bit warmer if winds stay up and potential to end up cooler if winds are near calm for any length of time (think that is more likely farther east). Jonger
Lol Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the upper 20s. This looks to be evenly distributed over most of 40 North, its an exaggeration with some possible reality.
daddylonglegs
Alek- That is why way back in the day, the first settlers put their orchards/other fruit right by the lake. Now a farmer can't afford to grow anywhere near the lake, so they are stuck trying every means possible to save their crop...
Nic
Columbus, OH forecast to get down to 27 tonight.. Tonight: Widespread frost, mainly after 3am. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 27. North wind between 3 and 8 mph. :o I suspect it will hit that temperature right before sunrise if at all, I think NWS is going with coldest temps possible. They were 3 degrees to cold last night. Channel 4 was saying low around 30, upper 20s outlying areas. Going to be close hopefully it can avoid below 28 for 4 hours, big fruit farm a few miles away from here. Geos
Already 35° tonight. Temperature falling faster then it did last night! Forecasted low of 34° is in jeopardy! Noticed more cold weather damage to flowering trees today. White flowers on some trees have turned shades of brown. Calm winds outside since 8pm. Geos
Wow, much warmer than that here at 46. Weak low-level WAA is already taking over here. Yeah I think some frost is likely before WAA kicks in some time in the wee hours of the morning. The lake kept the air conditioning going all day, then the winds quit blowing, leaving a lower starting off point for temperatures to fall from. Edit: 33° at 11pm. Frost is starting to form on the grass. Some low 30s showing up in SW MI.
cmichweather
I'm interested to see how the apple orchards fair in northern Macomb PHN is 28 and MTG is 35 i'd think they are at least 30-29 out in the fields. Hopefully this isn't a hard hit for the northern SE apple growers knowing the amount of flowering occurring already.
Stebo
UHI has worked for the City so far tonight, Detroit City Airport is at 34 currently and Metro is at 37. Outside of the metro area though temps are around freezing or lower.
dmc76
I got down to 27. These nights has to be taking a toll on these veg/plants especially in this area. What a major disater that strecth of 10 days in March has turned out to be. I see at least 4 more days below freezing in the next coming days. Met1985
Good luck everyone with these cold snaps and cold temps. Seems like there with be some major concerns about the crops and fruit trees and as well. Were i live in Western North Carolina we reached 28 degrees this morning with a heavy frost. Trees have bloomed already, leaves on trees and people already planting gardens that think we saw the last frost. Poor people, anyways good luck everyone! Nic
Still don't get how next week doesn't end up colder with 850mb temps being much colder then the past few days. I think the air-mass is moving in from a different area, that has no snow cover.
