OKpowdah
I figured the last thread is getting long, and we're not talking about current obs anymore, so let's compile some crazy stats from New England from the last week For Concord, NH 6 straight days had >20 degree departures, averaging to 25.5 5 straight days exceeded 80 degrees. For these 6 days, the average high was 80.3 (normal for June 28th) and the average low was 39.7 (normal for May 8th) On the 18th, the temperature rose from a low of 29 to a high of 81 ... a range of 52 degrees! On the 22nd, the high reached 84, which is above normal for any day of the year! (the peak normal high is 83, in late July) The mean temp of 63, achieved on the 21st and 22nd, is normal for June 8th. After all this, here are the monthly stats so far: Average temp: 43.0 (the record warmest March was 41.1) Departure: 11.3 Snow: 9.4"

#NoPoles
In any month? oops, i typed that wrong...this is what i meant... CONCORD HAS NEVER SET RECORD HIGHS FOR FIVE DAYS IN A ROW FOR ANY MONTH OF THE YEAR. IT HAS SEEN RECORD HIGHS SET ON THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS...MOST RECENTLY FROM JULY 19TH THROUGH THE 21ST IN 1977.

I meant, I figured they had had 5 80+ days in a row before (not totally sure, but I would imagine that happens pretty often?)That makes sense
tamarack
BML has spanned 92F this month, -11 on the 6th and 81 on the 22nd. I've never seen a 90+ spread for a calendar month before this. Had 91F span IMBY, as I only reached 80 on the 22nd but matched BML on 3/6. (Doesn't happen often; they're usually 2-6F colder than my place on a still cold morning.) tamarack
That is just sick. I think so far I have had a 71F spread... 7.1F-78.7 -11 in March is pretty nice That's my record for an even-year March here. Of course the odd-year Marches have averaged -19 for minima and in 3 years my winter's lowest has been in March, 2001 (-25), 2007 (-23) and last year (-22). Also had -26 on 2/29/08 for that winter's coldest - just missed. (Very oddly, I've yet to touch -20 in Dec.) Another oddity: Despite this year's heatwave, I think 2010 keeps its title for mildest March. It averaged 35.03, and thru yesterday 2012 was at 35.35. Today's avg (likely somewhere 25-27 IMBY) will put the 2 years in a near tie, and the next 4 days look to keep it real close. March 2010 topped out at just 64, but its minimum was a mediocre 11 (my only March in 14 years here not to have a subzero temp), and 28 of 31 days were above normal. Tortoise beats the bunny once again.
tamarack
Got the temps from the Farmington co-op for last week, and they really emphasize how incredible the warm spell was. 3/18...78...31...+26 3/19...71...32...+23 3/20...80...32...+26 3/21...82...35...+28 3/22...83...36...+29 3/23...65...42...+22 All the March days 70 and milder, 120 yr records: 83...22/2012 82...21/2012 80...20/2012 79...20/1903 Mean of 59.5 is tied with 3/22/2012 for March mildest. (Its +30 still tops.) 78...18/2012 77...29/1945 76...29/1946 74...31/1977 74...31/1986 73...30/1981 72.....5/1894 Not sure about this, as nearby locations were low 60s. 72...31/2006 71...29/1910 71...29/1949 71...31/1998 71...19/2012 70...25/1910 70...31/1936 70...30/1986 30-31/1986 were the only consec 70s in March before last week. 70...28/1998 20 days of 70+, and before last week there had been only two (maybe only one) earlier than 3/25. Otherworldly!
