baroclinic_instability
Worth a read for anyone who has ever used the RUC and/or the SPC mesoanalysis which is based off the RUC initial hour. Large changes are obviously coming since the new RAP is a completely different numerical model (WRF-ARW v3.2.1). A good read on the differences as well as upgrades, etc. http://www.srh.noaa....ion_RAP_GSD.ppt

isohume
I'm looking forward to and it'll be interesting to see how well the RAP does with aviation. Our CWSU (ZTL) gives much weight to the HRRR (using the RUC) and sometimes they live and die by it's convective output. Usually they die. Any improvement is more than welcome concerning aviation grid production and CWSU TAF coordination.
