New England' s most damaging was probably the Bar Harbor/Acadia fire.

Good read:

Apparently the Hope Vally RI fire started near me in Sterling CT, burned through Coventry RI

FYI this is a good site to follow, drought, wildfire conditions.

yeah i know out here that from ~1900 or so thru the mid 1960s there were a bunch of big ones. not little 5-acre brush fires either. there were some big ones in MMR (it's >20,000 acres so there's some real estate in there) that were large enough to cross RT 6 and keep moving northward

As long as the fires are naturally occuring, the drought and extended dry /warm weather should be welcome. I can't see how someone could be rooting for cool and wet, from a wx weenie perspective. Scorched earth ftw

Wow..a very damaging day over Mass and NH.. Fires burning out of control in Andover/Brimfield just to name a few. Ugly day in SNE

Lots of brush fires today, have not seen any structural damage reports, you? Can Brimfield catch a break?, Tornado, Irene, Halloween, probably best to burn the dead stuff.

Our biggest fears are coming to fruition sadly. And with another 7-10 days at least of no precip anywhere in New eng outside some flakes in the mtns..it is only going to get worse..Dangerous
